This is a great block for beginners and students. The white layer is perfect for helping make sure you carve away enough. I bought these to walk my friends through an art project for my 30th birthday party. I transfered a black and white photo of their faces using parchment paper and an inkjet printer. The transfer was super smooth and better clairity than on pink blocks I usually use. The blocks were just the right amount of firmness and the saze is great. The dimensions translate well to frame sizes if thats your intention with your finished project. The whole set comes out to be very affordable as well with normal blacks that size costing around five dollars a piece in a local art store. There were no scratches or dings on the surface and each one is individually wrapped. The box it gets shipped in is a little flimsy and over taped to hold together but it really doesnt affect the product itself.

The following review that I wrote for TOSNAIL brand says it all. I first started block carving 6 months ago and immediately "became addicted." The first product I bought were the solid pink and then when I saw the white with green core, I switched to those. These were both SGHUO brand and they were 100% satisfactory. When I realized how prolific I was going to be (over 70 stamps already!), I looked for a more economical version and tried KEILEOHO brand. Again worked perfectly at a much better price. But then I got greedy and found TOSNAIL brand which are just slightly cheaper than the KEILEOHO. However, these have been disappointing and frankly frustrating, especially since I've worked up to more complex and time-consuming subjects. When I was cleaning the first one after use, some of the white design elements lifted off the green core. I had spent hours on it so I very carefully glued the loose areas back onto the core. I'm still able to use it but this was the case with everything I had carved from these. I've had to indicate on the back of each stamp a warning to clean VERY carefully and now reserve the remainder for my simplest designs. It's the old adage, "You get what you pay for." I recommend the KEILEOHO brand for the best value for your money.

It came securely packaged as it was all rolled in clear duck tape within the package. I like how it is two colors, if you carve deep enough you will be able to see what you have and have not carved, making it easier to see the final product. You have to carve a certain amount for you to be able to see the green though. The only thing I don't like is how much plastic there is, each one is individually wrapped. its good though, softer than pink type I have bought before, i would buy again.

These were great, they were super soft which is great because I have carpal tunnel so my wrists suck. I'm able to carve away like it's butter. You can even use both sides of it because of they are very thick.
