I purchased this basket for a Kamado Joe Classic I grill. The fit is perfect and it seems to have resolved an issue I had with coals being directly on the ceramic and splitting into two barely smoldering halves. I do have to stop down the venting a bit to keep from overshooting my target temperature. The quality is great, being that it is solid stainless steel and not some chrome plated steel that will quickly degrade. One other plus to using this basket is since the bottom plate is removed and the ash basket is exposed you can toss in wood chips later in the process to add a bit more smoke.

I replaced a cheaper version with this one and because of the quality of materials and the amount of “air” that this lets in, the charcoal gets up to temperature much faster. It also is easier to maintain/control the temperature of my Big Green Egg.

Install is easy and it does make charcoal mgmnt easier but it can be tricky to remove from my Knamado Joe Classic without dislodging the retainer ring. I still am not clear if i need the cast iron charcoal grate T thr bottom. Its great quality and very well made

Cleaning the fire box on my Kamado Joe was never fun. It was a pain getting out the small pieces of charcoal that remained. I was watching a video on cooking and saw the Kamado Joe owner used one of these baskets and decided to give it a try.It is a perfect fit into my Kamado Joe classic. You do have to do some disassembly, but that also gave me a chance to get the shop vac out and do some cleaning. Now that I have it installed it is super easy to give it a shake (or a stir) and both the ash and small pieces drop into the ash collection tray. Just add more charcoal and you are ready to roll!.I did read some reviews that noted you have to relearn your vent settings for temperature, and I have found that to be somewhat the case. It isn't as different as I expected, but it does allow a lot more airflow.Overall this is a great addition to my grill. Super happy I did it.

I don't write a lot of reviews, but this is worth it. I know it is just a simple basket, but it is a game change for my Akorn grill. My grill doesn't normally allow enough air flow around the sides and I couldn't get proper searing temps. This completely solves my issue and makes cleaning and coal changes sooo much easier. It's heavy duty stainless and should easily last me a lifetime.

2nd year into using my Joe, and never got the super high heat for searing steaks, or doing pizzas. This is the missing link. Creates more surface area, and greater ventilation - resulting in higher heat. Makes for easy clean up, and easily allows hitting the 750 to 900 degree temps. Downside is hard to do slow and go without almost shutting down vents completely. So I go back to stock grate when smoking, and use the basket when I'm looking for the higher grilling temps. Sturdy build, and should have lasting power. Clean and store when not using, so not in the elements when not being used. Pricey, but to be expected with all Joe/Green accessories.

This has made clean-up so much easier. Once everything has cooled off it pulls right out and a couple of quick shakes later you’re all done. Just make sure you remove the original airflow plate on the bottom and you’ll get better airflow. I’ve noticed with the better airflow I’ve gotten the temps much higher when it comes to searing as well. Great piece, would buy again.

I've watched video after video on Kamados, and have always noticed that the Pros use baskets for better airflow over the stock cast iron grate. I could never get the types of sear temperatures they talked about... until I switched to this. Awesome !!! The packaging explained how to do a slow burn, and then up it for searing. Worked perfectly - smoked a roast before searing it, for a perfect, tender, smokey, medium-rare tenderloin.CON:Very expensive for the Big Joe, but the only one I found that works for it (plenty of reasonably priced options for the smaller kamados).
