Had one installed after a reno - many false alarms mostly late at night like 3am. Finally narrowed it down to this POS.

The price is pretty far off, no doubt.

Installed it after the old one expired, and no issue to tested perfectly.

This product was to replace one that wasn’t working anymore. I was thrilled that the exact make and model was available. The wiring was already in place, so I just had to plug in and mount the detector. It was delivered in a few days.

The detector was 6 years old already when I received it.

If you want a hardwired smoke alarm that can actually connect to your home alarm and call the fire department, there are surprisingly few choices. Kidde sells the SM120X and CO120X relays that can be wired in to these and connect to an input on your alarm system and call the fire department. Most manufacturers don't have a CO relay for carbon monoxide alarms. Kidde does.I previously had the i12010SCO, KN-COPE-IC, and KN-COSM-IBA in various locations and the existing pigtails worked fine for these. I did change the bases because the color was off. These are white and the others were beige, possibly due to age/fading. They do take up more space in the electrical box, but I didn't have any issues with mine once I pushed a few wires further back into the box. Definitely snug on a couple of them, but nothing I am worried about. Some people have complained about the LEDs, so I was worried and checked mine thoroughly during and after installation and all 6 are working perfectly. I bought 4 at Home Depot and 2 at Amazon and all are fine. The wife and I both think these new ones are the best looking of the Kidde bunch. Still not as pretty as a Nest, but the Nest can't trigger my alarm to call the fire department!and the voice prompts on this model are so much better and easier to understand than previous models. They even have a strobe version for the hearing impaired! I never thought of that until I was researching these. It's strange to think I have never seen one with a strobe before (aside from a commercial setting). Strobe model is P4010ACLEDSCO-2.

These are absolutely terrible. They do not go off when there is smoke and they go off randomly for no reason whatsoever. I don’t feel safe at all with them. Highly unrecommended for that reason alone. They are also a pain to setup.

Works great. I have this installed in my hallway ceiling, pretty close to my kitchen and a bathroom. This was replacing a older unit. Since I already had a fairly modern Kidde (or Firex) detector in this location, it plugged right in with no need to replace the mounting plate or do any wiring. Although it is close to both the kitchen and a bathroom, it has never had a false alarm. The green circle LED is lights up only when it’s very bright in the room, so the LED stays off except on very sunny days with the lights on. The detector's LED literally never comes on it is exposed very bright light. When the bright light turns off, the green LED turns off in about 50 seconds. I saw that others mentioned that the LED is "too bright at night", but perhaps those reviewers did not bother to wait the 50 seconds for the LED to turn itself off.I bought this one because it is full featured: photo sensor, CO sensor, line powered with 10 year sealed battery backup, and voice alerts. I also plan to buy these for the apartments I rent out, as they’ll reduce my maintenance effort considerably.Make sure you have a standard sized (minimum 2 inch wide) box or larger. It does not fit in a 1.5 inch wide metal "old work electrical box", as the round "nub" on the "back side" is of a larger diameter.

I decided to add a photoelectric alarm to my collection of ionic smoke alarms in my house. This one uses the same connector as the other Kiddie alarms but it takes up more space behind the smoke detector in the electric box. I was able to get it installed and it works with my other Kiddie smoke detectors. It is installed in a dim hallway and the green circle never lights up. I was able to get it to light up by shining a flashlight at it and I do that regularly to make sure it is working. I wish there was a switch to leave the green light on all the time.It has been installed for about 2 months and we have had no false alarms.

Installed several in my house this spring. For the past two months I've been having false alarms on the second floor. Swapped units around and the issue is the location, not the individual smoke detector. This eliminates the idea of dust in the detector causing the false alarm. It's nice that it says fire or CO, it's bad when it says fire for no reason. Seems to occur just after I go to bed.
