I wanted to love this kit, but after assembling it, both kits don’t have seeds in them. So I couldn’t start my lesson. Pieces were also missing or cracked. I believe it will still work, but for as much as this costs, it should not be like this.

It’s cute but when my package got here, the box was open and there’s no seeds in it what uses it without seeds especially for the price

Does this provide any additional practical value to a small grow? No. It's got a very basic drip water system, and the rest of it is largely for show -- but the point of this, and where we found a ton of value, was getting the kids excited and engaged about putting it together and the grow process. It produced all sorts of great questions about what plants need, the differences between natural and artificial light, etc.While we're only growing wheat grass (our Bengal is going to be so happy), it would be even better for small herbs that don't rise much taller than 3-5". Do recommend this as a quality rainy day activity for younger kids.
