The order came with one blue and one pink camouflage walkie talkies and two 6 in 1 survivor whistles. The walkie talkies come with an attach flashlight, push control buttons, menu screen, a loop for the lanyards etc. You can get 22 channels at long ranges and has automatic squelch. It uses 3 AAA batteries or Type C ports, neither included. Children and adults will have tons of fun.

These were going to be stocking stuffers for our twins but we decided they had enough for the holidays so I didn't give them to them until yesterday (March 3rd) just before we set out on a hike in the woods to enjoy some springlike weather. Well, I wasn't expecting much as I have bought 2 other sets of kids walkie-talkies over the past couple years and neither really worked at all. But these worked great. We split into two groups on our walk and got over 100 yards apart from each other and still the connection was crystal clear. There's a call button the kids liked and some other features we didn't use, but they are easy to use and voices come through clearly. They were not expensive but they do feel sturdier than the ones I'd gotten previously. As a bonus, each walkie-talkie came with a separate item that was a combination compass, flashlight, and thermometer. The thermometer didn't seem to work but the flashlight did and the compass seemed reasonably accurate if we held it still long enough. But the real star is the walkie-talkies. I remember having so much fun with these as a kid and I'm glad my kids now get to have that fun too.

This walkie-talkie set has lots of extras. The walkie-talkies have light-up screens which help if kids want to use them in the dark, like under the covers at night. They also have a clip on the back that can slide onto a belt, waistband or backpack strap. The kit also comes with straps for hanging around the neck to keep hands free. The walkie-talkies can be used as baby monitors with some settings. Besides the radios themselves, the kit comes with a compass-thermometer-whistle-flashlight device. This is a cool accessory. Few toy compasses actually work, it seems, but on these, north really does indicate north. The flashlight is a good, strong light. The whistle is really high pitched and can help your friends find you if you're lost on your adventure. I was able to get a good strong sound for more than four city blocks. The one fault I found on these is that the menu button also serves as the power button, so I was always turning the thing off when trying to set it up. It took a little trial and error. There is a lock function so that you don't accidentally change your walkie-talkie's channel to one your partner isn't using. But you have to make sure the lock function is off when trying to set up synchronized channels initially. Once you figure that out, the trouble is over and the radios work great. The units are very small so they aren't unwieldy or awkward to use. Cute camouflage patterns, too.

We got these for a birthday gift for a 7 year old. The box they come in looks like it’s for way you get kids do I was worried, but he absolutely loves these. The neighborhood kids have been having fun with them. It also comes with an extra little whistle (not my fav but they love it), compass, flashlight tool. These toys are great for hours of outdoor fun.

This is an exciting package and my kids are over the moon about it. It's quite a bit more robust than when I was a kid, as one would expect, however it was also quite a bit more complicated to figure out things as simple as changing the channel. It was part following the instructions and part pressing buttons until I got lucky before I could set both radios to the same channel and and sub-code. That was a bit of a bummer because when you turn them off and back on, you're back at channel 1 and have to go through it all again, so we just keep them on channel 1 =)The clarity is definitely better than my childhood walkie talkies! One thing that's not a big deal, but for some it might be, is the light on the screens is not as nice and smooth as the light on the actual screens. The actual screens have a green light in the top middle of the screen and it makes the rest of the screen glow. Not great, but enough that you can read it ok. It's actually easier to read when the light goes off and you're just seeing the black digital on a grey screen. Here are some tips for using:When you turn on a walkie talkie it will be in locked mode. To change the volume you first need to long press the LAMP/(key icon) button to unlock it so you can press the up or down arrow to change the volume. You don't need to unlock them in order to talk/receive messages, use the flashlight, send out a Call Tone, or monitor channels. To change channels, send out a call tone, etc., the instructions say "Press menu button until ____ appears." This does not mean press and hold, but just quick press. When you press it once, you can now use the up/down arrows to change between channels 1-22. Press the Menu button again and now you can change the sub-code from 0-121. Press Menu again and you can cycle from 1 (low sensitivity) to 3 (high sensitivity) for VOX, and one more Menu press makes "CA" appear on the screen and you can choose from 1-10 for Call Tone selection. This changes the sound that both radios make when you press the CALL/MON button. Just like other settings, the call tone selection is not remembered when the radio is turned off.VOX (also called Baby Mode) is supposed to allow you to transmit your voice without pressing the button to talk. Even on high sensitivity though, you have to get your mouth right next to the walkie talkie before it transmits your voice. The instructions talk about scanning, but the VOX button doesn't also say /SCAN as the instructions say, and when I turn on the radio "SCAN" is not one of the things I see on the screen, so maybe the feature is no longer there and the instructions just need to be updated. When inserting the three AAA batteries it is handy to remove the belt clip - the batteries can be inserted much easier. It says it's rechargeable, but when I take the batteries out and charge it, the charging icon never seems to increase in charge. It will run with the USB-C plugged in or the batteries inserted, but I can't charge it to run without one of those two. So I don't know if the batteries need to be rechargeable in order to use the USB-C?? I've accidentally charged a non-rechargeable battery before and it exploded, so I'm assuming it's fine but I'd like to find out about this before I use the USB-C port.An exta bonus in the package that I'd forgotten about are a couple of "outdoor" tools that the kids love as well. Each one has a whistle, compass, thermometer, flashlight, magnifying glass, mirror, and comes on a lanyard. Not very durable, but fun for the kids.My 8- and 10-year olds picked up on the basics of the walkie talkies pretty quickly and are enjoying them. We've been thinking about getting the entire family into this type of hobby, so as the younger ones get older and more experienced with these we'll spend a little more money and move them over to higher end radios. In general these are a pretty solid 4, but dropping a star due to the lack of instruction about some of the features and the discrepancy about the VOX/SCAN feature, plus the recharge question.
