It worked well and he loved it. The blade goes around and lights up. It spins fast enough to be very realistic, but doesn't have enough force to hurt if it hits skin. My grandson was quite happy with it. It was several inches longer than another brand. The length can be adjusted depending on the user's size.

We got this for my grandson who is obsessed with grass-cutting videos on YouTube. It has some (not overly loud) engine sounds and the spinning blase lights up. The blade stops if you hit something so it's a kind of safety. He did break the guard off but that's ok. One thing to note is that he plays with it nonstop and we have yet to have to change batteries. It is also appropriately sized for a 3-5 year old. Many other toys we buy look nice in the pictures but are often undersized when we get them. This is proportionally sized so that they can hold it as if they were a big boy with a big toy.
