I ordered this Kilt Emporium Authentic Tartan Plaid Mens Kilt - Scottish Traditional 5 Yards, 16oz Acrylic Wool Kilt for my teenage son.My son has been wearing kilts since he was tiny, our church thought he was adorable making his First Communion in one back in second grade.(Our parish is heavily Italian, ever since, we’re “the nice Irish family”, which we are, partly, though we’re also Scots. And my husband is part Italian.) My son took a kilt hiatus in middle school, but now that he’s in high school, he wanted to get a kilt again.This is really a good quality inexpensive kilt. I was slightly dubious about the “acrylic wool”, obviously something is or is not wool. The fabric is made of acrylic, but it looks very nice. My son said it is comfortable to wear, and he likes it a lot more than the wool ones he wore when he was smaller.The kilt has well-sewn, even pleats. The leather straps are sturdy and look nice, the buckles are strong and work well.My son wears a 36” or 38” waist in pants, he’s almost 6’ tall and about 200 pounds. He’s built big, not heavy, he’s broad shouldered, and has sturdy, Scots legs that were made for a kilt. He looks so good in this! We ordered a 40” because he’s still growing and he wanted to make sure it wasn’t too tight, he likes his clothes a bit loose. (His waist is about 36”, he likes to wear a 38” for room.). The 40 fit him fine with the extra room he likes.If, like me, you’re noticing the price and worrying, don’t. I always thought I had to pay top dollar for a full wool kilt—this is just as nice as some of those very pricy kilts. My husband was eying this one, he had been doubtful about the acrylic, but he said it looked great, and would probably be lighter and more comfortable to wear year round. I have a hunch we may be back to buy another kilt soon.High quality, well-made, and my boy looks so grown up and handsome! He’s not old enough yet, but who knows, maybe he’ll wear this to Prom one day.

I ordered this kilt along with one from another brand that was the same price. This kilt is far superior to the other one. The weight and the way that the pleats are stitched down close to the waist. I was really surprised by how well it was made. It also came in a heavy plastic/rubber pouch for storage or travel.Although I bought it as a costume, I wouldn’t hesitate to wear it to a formal function!

The acrylic wool is cost effective material with a nice feel to it. I got the solid green; very deep color. The kilt is exactly as shown. My waist size at the navel is 45”, and the size 46” is only a little loose. One a belt is added, it’s fine.The only constructive criticisms are:1) The left hip only has only 1 buckle/strap. A second one wouldn’t hurt.2) The belt loops in back are a good size but a bit close together. A little more space between the two might provide more support.All in all? A good deal!

Recently discovered my Scottish heritage - Now Judith and I both have a tartan plaid to share with our kids and grandkids. Love this kilt and will be wearing it in the spring to events we plan to attend. IDK how to express "true to size" for a kilt, but this one fits nicely for me.
