Used on Goretex paclight material rain jacket and pants. Applied several light coats, and used two cans. Just used on a short hike a week after applying. Jacket and pants wetted out within 30 min of constant rain. Nikwax products have gone down hill, so I thought I would try this. Product is worthless for waterproofing.

I used the sealent on my boots, jacket and jeans. It seems to work best on repairing a formerly water proof item, and not making something water proof.

Bought this to double-water proof a cheap rain suit I got for a multiday hike and I'm glad I did. I did a test of the rain suit before I applied the water repellent spray and the fabric did ok but I knew it would not withstand any type of constant exposure to moisture so I sprayed a couple of coats of this stuff on and the water beaded up and rolled right off. I wore it during a couple of rain storms around town with the same result so I put it in my pack and hit the trail. It rained for the first 4 days of my hike. Not just a stray shower but constant rain. I think the area we were hiking in got over 6 inches of rain those four days. But I stayed dry, well, as dry as you can be hiking for 8 hours in the rain and wind. By the end of the day, the cuffs on the sleeves and the shoulders were no longer beading up the water but it was also not soaking through the fabric so I didn't have to change out of a bunch of wet layers once in camp. I will definitely be using this to refresh my older rain jackets and boots that have lost their repellency as well as the rain flies on my tents. Much cheaper solution than buying new gear.

I bought this protectant to waterproof a hat my daughter purchased. The hat is reversible, but I only sprayed one side. She had been searching for a stylish rain hat, but anything water repellent was not very pretty. After finding an acceptable hat, made of cotton, I ordered this product to protect it. I sprayed it and let it dry, as instructed. The directions said to repeat the process, which I did. Although it has not rained since, I did test how waterproof it was, by running it under the faucet. The water rolled right off! I am confident that when she does use this "rain" hat, it will stay nice and dry. This product also did not leave the hat stiff or smelling badly. The fabric is still nicely pliable and soft to the touch. As stated, in the directions, just be sure to spray your item outside or in a ventilated area.

I have a Kamp-Rite Oversize Tent Cot that my daughter slept in without the rain fly during a drizzly night. In the morning she complained that it dripped. I used this spray on the tent cot and rain fly and left it out during #notjoaquin where we got 10 inches of rain. The cot was dry. Unfortunately the directions say to put two coats on a half hour apart. A single can wasn't enough to put a single coat on the entire tent cot. This led to a natural experiment.I put a single coat on the to and sloping portions and the top half of both vertical portions. During #notjoaquin when I checked, the water was beading on top of the coated portions without any leakage, The uncoated portions were water saturated. This product works extremely well, unfortunately the double order of cans aren't big enough to cover a single job . I also have a Mountainsmith Morrison 2 Person tent and a single can cannot cover the entire rain fly.
