The product is well built and easy to install but it did. It give it the jump or extra boost as anticipated. Also pushed the fuel consumption up.

At first, during installation, it was quite simply replacing and mounting all new bolts and brackets. However, when it came to installing the K&N intake housing onto the intake manifold, that’s when things started to get tricky.. Reference the picture attached. Also, after certain amount of mileage driven with it, a part of the intake housing cracked from one of the mount brackets and where the mass air flow sensor is located. (Reference other pictures)I believe it was caused by vibrations but still you would imagine getting a good quality pvc plastic cold air intake for the price you pay…I purchased this last April 2021 and already all kinds of damagesK&N should probably rethink on how to improve the quality of this product

The product box arrived in pretty rough shape, however the contents appeared to be okay. However there is one issue, the sealed parts bag that was provided appears to have supplied the wrong hardware type, included should've been 6 M6 sized bolts that correspond with the provided nylon lock nuts. The bolts provided are definitely too small. Email sent to KN customer support.

I had to file the rectangular port where the MAF fits so it would face the right direction. It fits backwards but the truck won't run with the MAF in backwards. Once I filled the port a little it installed just fine and does what it's designed to do - make your truck louder.

This is a well-engineered bit of kit, I especially like the design of the heat shield with its cushioned seal. I was a bit concerned after seeing another review claiming rattles given that non-OEM can propagate poor results. I was also concerned about fitment as the Amazon Garage claimed it wouldn't work on my 2009 CrewCab , short bed, 4x4, 4.0L Frontier. Took a chance as the 4.0 Xterra/Frontiers are nearly identical mechanically over their respective model years.I took my time installing, utilized all the sealing material, trimmed to fit perfectly and double checked my work...net result, zero rattles, perfect fit (almost, see below), and per my butt dyno, the claimed power gain is at least close which is unusual for a CAI, usually the cool sticker is about as effective. It seems some real thought and engineering went into this, it also tells me the stock setup was fairly restrictive. As another reviewer pointed out, the plastic tube reduces the chance for heat soak, and the heat shield is effective. I hemmed and hawed at dropping the $$'s on a CAI, but it turns out you get what you pay for, this time in a good way.As for sound, it's stock quiet at idle, a little louder (in a good way) in normal driving conditions, and obnoxious at WOT. At WOT I like it, my GF hates it, 'nuff said. The fitment caveat, kit comes with a replacement crankcase ventilation hose to replace the stock piece, it is about 6" too short, and half the diameter so you will be buying that elsewhere. Maybe why Amazon claims the kit doesn't work?? Otherwise, it's a perfect fit, but you'll need the 5/8's hose. Overall, very happy

Purchased 7 months ago. Relatively simple install. Upon starting I could immediately tell it was pulling air through the crack by your hood, where it was not before. Can for sure feel the power. Noticed I got up to speed a little quicker and acceleration felt SMOOTHER. Remember it is just 15 HP so it is not a huge improvement. The sound is honestly the best part. If my window is down I can hear it pulling air through the hood when accelerating. When you romp on it, it absolutely comes alive at 4000 rpm it's like a switch is thrown and you hear it working. It sounds like a demented leafblower! No joke , it is like this hollow whine that makes your hair stand up. Better if window is down though. Overall good product. To be honest, probably not worth the money, but not too much stuff is made for our trucks so we take what we can get and this is my hobby. Dyno tested at 230 hp to the ground with 3 inch lift and 32s. Believe the graph they give you. The gas mileage increase canceled out my lift and tires so about 2mpg in town. Was getting 16 now about 18 in town. If I took the lift and tires off I could probably get 20 with my bedcover down which is a great purchase as well (1-2mpg in town).

Installation took about 45minutes.Box contained everything it needed and the filter works great.I can already feel an increase in power in the lower end and the engine sounds great when you put the pedal down!K&N has always been my go to for CAIs and filters and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Fantastic intake kit. Took me about an hour start to finish to install and the end results look and perform well. The truck has a much more noticeable growl than it did before above 3000rpm. It isn't LOUD by any means, but it does sound better. Sounds more like my custom G35 now. I don't have access to a dyno so I can't say anything with regards to increased power or fuel efficiency but I CAN say that cruising at 65mph on the freeway the truck was 300-400rpm less than it usually is. Good sign. Overall a great kit, well thought out, and should be relatively bullet proof. The ONLY thing I would change would be to add additional silicone bumpers around the opening in the side of the enclosure that the intake tube goes through. Not a big deal and I'll likely pick up some silicone weather stripping from the local home store to fill that space up a bit more. One other little quibble. One of the hose clamps simply wouldn't fit where it was supposed to go. I went through all of the provided clamps only to have to remove them for use other places. In the end I had to salvage a clamp from the old intake to reuse.I do want to leave a comment for anyone thinking of getting this or any cold air intake kit. There are people that will scoff at these indicating that it isn't possible to gain any efficiency or performance simply by installing one of these. Aside from the well documented proof that cooler air is more dense and therefore capable of providing more power, having a breather element and tube that reduces restriction DOES help. No, it doesn't 'add' horsepower but it does reduce the amount of effort the engine has to use (taking away horsepower) to inhale. Case in point - grab a plastic coffee stirrer and a soda straw. Put the stirrer in your mouth and breathe ONLY through the stirrer. Run around the block. No do the same thing with the soda straw. THAT is what these provide. Don't expect miracles. Don't expect to double your horsepower. DO expect the engine to run a little more efficiently which does give measurable gains in mileage and horsepower.

I purchased this intake as soon as K&N verified it fit the 2012 Nissan Frontier 4.0 V6, I went with this (plastic model) because it claimed to make 3 more hp over the metal version, whether that is noticeable in a mid-size truck I cannot report. I can say the plastic version seems to be somewhat quieter overall until redline is reached versus the metal versions, I am basing this on past metal intakes I have had on different vehicles, so it is not a direct comparison, but a pretty good guess. There is a definite noticeable difference in overall power and acceleration after adding the intake. The problem is the intake sounds so good at engine redline it took no more than 10 minutes for me to get pulled over by a very understandable police officer for doing way more than the speed limit. As far as any increase in MPG it is slight, but noticeable if you can control your right foot. The instructions are quite good that came with the intake and make this install a quick one. In about a half hour to 45 minutes you'll be looking for you license, insurance and registration, hahaha.
