Grips any shaped object ()...

Providing more output and comfort compared to conventional water pump pliers of the same length, the Knipex Alligator water pump pliers offers nine adjustment positions for 30 percent more gripping capacity and good access to the workpiece due to the slim size in its head and joint areas. It's so versatile, it can be used in any industry — automotive, electrical, HVACR, industrial, and even DIY.

A serrated gripping surface on the jaws allows for gripping any shaped object — round, square, hex, or flat. Plus, the tool's teeth are induction hardened for wear resistance and a longer life. A box joint provides directional stability when working in any environment. This dual channel design offers the operator increased confidence that the tool will not bend or break under heavy duty working conditions. A fine adjustment enables you to find the perfect setting for different sized workpieces.

By adjusting the handles to get the appropriate width, you can lock the jaws into place to avoid slipping off the workpiece. Once locked into position, you won't have to squeeze the handles to get a greater grip. Only downward pressure on the top handle is needed to firmly hold the object.

The Alligator also has a forged on pinch guard that prevents the operator's fingers and hands from being pinched. Because the guard is forged at the same time that the tool is made, it will last as long as the tool itself.

...round, square, hex, or flat ().

Quality in Every Detail

Sometimes we give our pliers a really hard time. We try to destroy them to find out what makes them good and long-lasting. Because we don't want to leave anything to chance, we take a long, careful look.

The steel Knipex uses is precisely hardened with a maximum of 0.8 percent carbon and defined parts of chromium and vanadium, guaranteeing optimum cutting performance and service life — even though it requires special production and costs a bit more. But our high product demands require this.

The rivet of our high-leverage diagonal cutter also has to stand up to a lot of stress. That's why we literally give it backup: we forge it straight onto the pliers. This means extra effort as we have to precision mill the rivet to a few hundredth millimeters. But satisfied users are worth this effort.

Knipex also looks closely at the small details. The angles, the sharpness, the hardness, the toughness of the cutting edges. The precision and smooth movement of the joint. The handle design and the finish. We keep reviewing these subjects, we research, we test, and we improve our pliers.

About Knipex

Headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, Knipex is an independently-owned family enterprise steeped in tradition and specializing in the manufacturing of high-quality pliers. It all started back in 1882 when C. Gustav Putsch set up his own forge shop in Cronenberg (now a suburb of Wuppertal), and the company is now run by a fourth generation of that family. The world's leading brand in pliers today, Knipex is focused on the performance, service life, and ergonomics of its tools in order to meet the high expectations of professional users.

The KNIPEX Alligator Water Pump Pliers are a testament to German engineering brilliance. With nine adjustment positions, they offer 30% more gripping capacity than standard pliers, making them incredibly versatile for any task from DIY to professional use. The slim head and joint area provide excellent access in tight spots, while the self-locking mechanism ensures a firm, non-slip grip on pipes and nuts. Built to last with hardened teeth and a robust box-joint design, these pliers are a quality investment for anyone needing reliable tools. Highly recommended!

I couldn’t believe how this set of small pliers could prevent the rear of an end link kit from spinning! For your information, these old link kits were simply roted in place with heavy rust. (I live in the rust belt, Quebec Canada). It was almost like magic… Seriously, these were simply holding these link kits better than ANY VISE-GRIPS i have tried in the past! All the teeth were intact after 2 link kits were removed. I would usually try to clamp down as hard as i could my old vise-grips and hope for the best. These days are now over! The high quality steel used to forge these Knipex is the recipe imo. It seems harder steel then Irwin Vise-Grips products. That’s why it probably holds better anything rusted or not.If you still have doubts about Knipex reputation, take my word for it and give it a try. Have yourself a great day!

I received this tool just prior to a bath plumbing project. The pliers came In very hand for almost every job in the project. The small size concerned me at first, but it came in handy to get into tight places. A larger plier wouldn't have worked. The jaws open very wide. The quality is excellent, they're heavy duty, multipurpose, and portable. And, I just used it again to remove rusted stripped screws. I highly recommend!

I have used Knipex pliers for the last six years. I have spent the last 10 years in industrial ammonia refrigeration and commercial refrigeration (grocery stores). I'm also an electrician. At first I used the more expensive cobra pliers with the cushion grips. They were excellent and over time I lost them or had them "borrowed" from me. I didn't feel like paying for those again so I got the more basic alligator line. Whoa. If the cobra's were 5 stars then these bad boys are off the chart at 7 stars. I hate the cushion grips now. These are slimmer, I prefer the more basic size adjustment, super tough, and will grip anything.I buy Snap-On Combination Wrenches / Sockets / Ratchets / Torque Wrenches, Wiha Screwdrivers, Bahco Adjustable Wrenches, Wera Joker Ratcheting Wrenches / Ratcheting Screwdriver, Ridgid Pipe Wrenches, Proto Pullers / Extractors, Knipex Pliers (needle nose, linemens, channies), and expensive things that say Fluke. I demand a lot from tools and expect performance. Knipex is one of my favorite brands and the alligators are the down and dirty do everything channies. They just grip and don't slip. I trust them enough to stand on them breaking loose pipes. Just get one. The 7" and 10" ones are vital to my day to day operation, especially the 7".

I have been a channel lock guy for many years but after seeing these I changed for the simple fact of finger smashing and I was happily surprised how great the gripping power and safety features Knipex puts into it's products. I have since revamped some of my tools to include three sizes of these 180 350 and 300mm sizes and I am equally happy with the larger sizes so I decided I needed this size as it is small yet covers a broad spectrum of fasteners I deal with on a daily basis as well fittings for various electrical installations. The gripping power is phenomenal along with the easy of use and each with a wide range of sizes. The hardness of the teeth is awesome so they will last a very long time. They are just as hard as channel locks.. I still keep a pair of channel locks just because some of the features that make these pliers so great is not possible without channel locks such as using them to pry and beat on things as I would never do that with these Knipex as they are far superior :-)
