Easily move from different sized pipes ()...

Redefining the Knipex Cobra water pump pliers, this auto-adjusting model (85 01 250) is ideal for frequent changeovers to workpieces of different sizes — just grip the pliers handles and squeeze, and it will fully adjust to whatever application you're grabbing hold of. It's easy to move from gripping a small diameter pipe to a large-sized fitting — no need to preset the tool between grips.

Cobra's unique jaw configuration can grip any shape object — flat, round, hex, or square. It also eliminates nut burring to avoid stripping pipes, nuts, or bolts. Additionally, the Cobra's newly redesigned adjustment provides 30 percent more gripping capacity than previous models. And the induction hardened gripping teeth means that once it's set, it stays.

Cobra water pump pliers are constructed from chrome vanadium electric steel, an innovative high alloy, oil tempered steel that ensures longevity. And their thin head design helps you get into spaces other pliers can't, so there's no need to change tools when working in tight confines.

...to larger fittings ().

Quality in Every Detail

Sometimes we give our pliers a really hard time. We try to destroy them to find out what makes them good and long lasting. Because we don't want to leave anything to chance, we take a long, careful look.

The steel Knipex uses is precisely hardened with a maximum of 0.8 percent carbon and defined parts of chromium and vanadium, guaranteeing optimum cutting performance and service life — even though it requires special production and costs a bit more. But our high product demands require this.

The rivet of our high-leverage diagonal cutter also has to stand up to a lot of stress. That's why we literally give it backup: we forge it straight onto the pliers. This means extra effort as we have to precision mill the rivet to a few hundredth millimeters. But satisfied users are worth this effort.

Knipex also looks closely at the small details. The angles, the sharpness, the hardness, the toughness of the cutting edges. The precision and smooth movement of the joint. The handle design and the finish. We keep reviewing these subjects, we research, we test, and we improve our pliers.

About Knipex

Headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, Knipex is an independently owned family enterprise steeped in tradition and specializing in the manufacturing of high-quality pliers. It all started back in 1882 when C. Gustav Putsch set up his own forge shop in Cronenberg (now a suburb of Wuppertal), and the company is now run by a fourth generation of that family. The world's leading brand in pliers today, Knipex is focused on the performance, service life, and ergonomics of its tools in order to meet the high expectations of professional users.

I do commercial mechanical plumbing. Lots of threaded rod, 3/8, and 1/2” nuts, beam clamps etc. now I can work all day with one single tool when doing hangers and with the auto grip I get everything super tight I never get frustrated and leave something semi tight like we all do with regular pliers

I now have 3 sets of these for at home, on the road and at work. Great grip strength and finding the notch is done for you each time. I will probably buy again for gifts

This product worked good on the first pipe I used it on, but broke right away on the second. I had high expectations for this bc I love the brand. My old ones are not as fancy as these automatic grips, but have lasted long enough to wear them out.

I love these pliers, I immediately replaced my regular channel locks for this. I use them for electrical work, and it does it's job, but better.

Great for nuts and small objects but once you get to 3/4" or 1" couplings the self adjusting feature is to wide for me to hold comfortably and have any strength in my grip.

Was using this product every week for 3 months then the lock started to randomly engage and disengage making the auto grip function impossible to use effectively, could just be a one off issue but who knows, however when using them for the 3 months they were awesome and worked well

Just got home and opened them up (and played around with them a little). This is going to be huge. The way the ratcheting mechanism works is brilliant! As you squeeze the handles it will lock on the nearest pawl once it feels resistance and allow you to squeeze the rest of the way to really bite into whatever you are grabbing. To release, you just remove it from the bolt and give it a squeeze. The lock is going to make storage convenient. As a diesel mechanic, i just wish they made a pliers wrench model, as well. I'd buy that in a heart beat, regardless of cost. An xl version of this would also be quite nice.

Great product from knipex. Tho was disappointed with the quality on these. And I love and own a lot of knipex tools. These however arrived with broken teeth on the adjustment slide. Tried getting a second pair and arrived in almost identical condition as the first. With damaged teeth. Only product I've bought that has had this issue.

Fantastic. I just wish they made these in the 180 size as well.I have them in my Tractor tool box. Very useful. I am thinking about getting another pair for my shop.I have purchased several Knipex items, and find them to be well worth the price. I would not hesitate to recommend them at the prices available on Amazon.

By far the best pair of pliers I have ever purchased. Sort of pricy, but as they say, you get what you pay for.
