It's a tap. It can be used to make or clean threads. It works as expected and there's nothing wrong with it, but I have real trouble giving more than four stars to something this simple. There's no wow here. It just does what you expect. OK, I'm going to be nice just this once.

I went to harbor fright first to get a basic set. finding out that the thread tolerance is so bad that I just returned it back and purchase Kodiak. It was so sharp and cut like butter. I will buy kodiak for a my tap needs..thanks

Worked great! Tapped a conveyor shaft with no problem didn't break and was inexpensive.

I have been using standard style taps from the local hardware store. I read about spiral point taps on some other websites and decided to try this one out. I am tapping 1/2 6061 aluminum which is fairly machinable. The standard taps I was having to run it in 1/4 turn and then spin back. I put this one in the hole and spun it through without reversing once. I have since tapped another 30+ holes with it continues to perform. I won't ever buy a standard tap again. This one performed better than I expected it to and has yet to loose a tooth.
