**KONG Reflective Shock Absorbing Hands-Free Bungee Dog Leash 6' (Pink) Review**I’ve always been a fan of KONG products, so when I needed a harness and leash for my 50 lb German Shorthaired Pointer, I purchased a KONG leash and a separate KONG harness. This review focuses solely on the leash. At around $90 for both items, the matching pink color and overall "tacticool" look definitely stand out. After using this leash for about six weeks, here are my thoughts on its pros and cons.### **Pros:**- **Aesthetic & Build Quality:** The leash looks fantastic and feels well-built, which is what I expected from KONG.- **Multiple Grip Points:**- The **handle near the clasp** is excellent for keeping my dog close in crowded areas, crossing streets, or anytime I need better control.- The **end handle** is perfect for allowing my dog to explore and sniff around.- Most often, I hold the **end handle while gripping just above the bungee section**, which maintains a comfortable walking range.- **Shock Absorption:** While some might find the bungee feature annoying, I appreciate how it dampens sudden movements, reducing strain on my arm when my dog pulls or changes direction quickly.### **Cons:**- **Swivel Clip Issue:** The biggest flaw of this leash is the swivel clip. If there’s no tension, my dog has learned that shaking a few times can cause the clip to retract, leading to the leash detaching. This could be due to a weak spring in my particular unit, but either way, it’s a concerning design flaw.- **Clip Design Mismatch:** The leash is clearly built for larger dogs, so the choice of a swivel clip is questionable. A **screw-locking carabiner** would be a much better fit, ensuring a stronger and more reliable connection. Many cheaper brands have already moved to this type of design for heavy-duty leashes.- **Handle Placement:** While the multiple grip points are useful, I wonder if the handle near the clasp should be positioned just behind the bungee instead. It’s currently only a few inches closer than the harness handle, making it somewhat redundant.### **Final Thoughts:**The KONG Reflective Shock Absorbing Hands-Free Bungee Dog Leash has a lot of great features, from its strong aesthetic appeal to its well-thought-out grip points and shock absorption. However, the **swivel clip is a major flaw** that compromises safety, which is unacceptable for a leash designed for bigger, stronger dogs. If KONG were to swap the clip for a more secure carabiner-style attachment, this would be a near-perfect leash. Until then, I’d recommend this leash with caution—just be mindful of the connection and consider modifying it if necessary.

I like this because it is durable and it's helping train my dog

Very well made with metal clips but it's longer than 6 ft when stretched out and hard to reach the traffic handle quickly. The bungee helps with keeping the dog from jerking you but also makes it hard to quickly control the dog. Not a fan and will probably donate to the shelter if I can't return.

I have a 40lb strong puller. Our walks are typically 1-2 miles through woods with lots of wildlife and, occasionally, other dogs.GOOD: Overall quality. Handles well padded. Traffic handle is a great idea and is perfect for me (6 2". dog: 24" shoulder) is a must-have feature! The clip to switch from handle to waist mode is sturdy and easy to use. Lead and clips are strong enough for a 40 lb puller.MIXED: Bungee is a marginal feature. Especially for hard pullers.BAD: When holding the leash by the main handle. The Bungee feels like it encourages doggo to pull more. Puts way too much stress on the shoulder and if we come in contact with another dog, it is chaos. Very hard to control unless you see the other dog first.GOOD: Bungee in Waist mode. The obvious difference is lower torso is stronger than the shoulder joint but doggo seemed to pull less. Big difference.
