The padded shorts that come with this set are great. The stitching is durable and the material is high quality. They have some stretch and don't dig into skin in the wrong places. The elastic waistband is secure and they hold up well in the wash. The sizing is pretty accurate, though they seem to run slightly on the small side, especially in the leg openings. They have strong compression compared to others I've seen so it depends on your preference. The issue I have is with the included cup. It wouldn't work well for baseball, especially at the higher levels where balls come in pretty hard when hit or thrown and the cup needs to be solid to protect them from it. This cup can still be easily pushed in with my thumb and some pressure, so not super soft, but definitely not hard enough to protect them adequately during baseball. However, the pocket is adequate and I just plan to purchase a harder cup to use with the shorts that has more protection.

Teaching kids to slide in baseball is really important. In my experience, most rec league coaches either skim over or don't focus enough on sliding technique. Most kids eventually figure it out one way or another, but many a bruised thigh or twisted ankle could be saved with better techniques being taught at an earlier age. I've always been a fan of using big sheets of cardboard on grass as soon as the kids move out of T-ball. The kids can learn the technique on a slightly softer and slippery surface before moving those basics into the dirt. So, if you're a baseball mom or dad of a youngster about that age, and you notice your kids coach not putting much effort into sliding practice, maybe give them a little helpful encouragement by simply bringing a large piece of cardboard to the next practice and telling them you happened to save it for sliding practice on the grass. Even if they've never heard of this before, they'll understand the concept and get your hint. Until then, put these Koopow sliding shorts on and save your kid a bruised thigh. Even when he gets the technique down perfect, the shorts still really help. In my experience, youth XL fit 10-11 year olds.

My son uses these for hockey and for playing catcher in baseball. He says they are super comfortable and loves the little bit of extra padding they have. Haven't had them long enough to know if they hold up over time.

These surpassed expectations. They fit my 11yo solid boy. He's usually a youth XL but sometimes things run small. These were perfect fit. Including the cup. Plus, he play baseball without the cup bothering him like other ones purchased. Great quality as well.

Shorts are great quality my son is a youth large is about 95 lbs and the cup for catching unfortunately is kinda big so he puts it in place every time he gets in his catcher position but i mean theirs really nothing else to do. We bought one from another brand but the cup was hard plastic this is a little softer then the other one so works better doesn’t hurt as much

According to the wearer they are comfortable. The slot for the protection cup keeps said cup in place and isn't as uncomfortable as a jock strap.
