D1

The playing feel of a grand piano, on stage or in your room

For players interested not only in classical, but also jazz, rock, or funk, the convenience of being able to play in a practice room plus the mobility to take the D1 anywhere is key. On top of that, a carefully fine-tuned playing feel is crucial. The D1 is a piano that delivers on all counts for pianists and keyboardists of any genre. The D1 is focused on providing the ultimate in slim, compact design.

D1
D1

Japanese-made high-quality RH3 keybed

The D1 features a real weighted hammer action 3 (RH3) keybed that reproduces the touch of a grand piano, where the low notes are heavier and the action becomes lighter as you play toward the higher notes. With this keybed's natural-feeling touch and weight, you'll want to keep playing it forever.

A compact body that you can take anywhere

The chassis construction has been rethought with a new structure and design that slims the body to a depth of approximately 10.24", the minimum depth that still allows enjoyable playing. Even though the D1 features a full-fledged weighted keybed, it's highly mobile, and can be carried anywhere in its dedicated SC-D1 soft case (sold separately). The stylish ST-SV1 stand (sold separately) completes a great-looking setup on stage or in your room.

Convenient functions that you expect from a digital piano

The metronome can be turned on/off at a touch. Layer mode lets you layer two sounds simply by pressing two sound buttons simultaneously, for example letting you combine strings or vibraphone with the piano sound that you're playing. The touch control function lets you choose from five settings (light, standard, heavy, stable, fixed) to specify how the sound responds to your playing dynamics, allowing you to enjoy performing with the response of your choice.

Standard-sized LINE OUT jacks, and also MIDI IN/OUT connectors

The D1 provides the external connection jacks that you'll need on stage. The standard-sized LINE OUT jacks can be connected directly to amplified speakers or to recording equipment. MIDI IN/OUT connectors are also provided. You can connect these via a MIDI interface to your computer, and use the D1 as a MIDI keyboard or as a piano sound module.

The Korg arrived with the last four keys not working. The headphone output was almost non existing.. Very low output. The Korg may have been injured in delivery. I'm sure seller was unaware of it being damaged. Thanks

Having read so many reviews that talked of damaged packaging and hence a damaged keyboard within, I can only say this was NOT the case with mine, purchased late Oct 2024. I found it was packaged well with a strong box, all keys taped solidly to ensure no internal movement and decent expanded polystyrene buffers around what matters. Maybe Korg have improved the packaging?? Who knows - all I do know is that it wasn't treated with (due) reverence being removed from the Amazon delivery van and it survived that perfectly. As for the rest of the review, it's the best keybed you will get outside of thousands of pounds so do not hesitate whether as a piano or midi controller.

I've been playing mine for 5 years, connected to a couple of JBL Studio Monitors. Sounds great and touch is great. The harpsichord and organ sounds are pretty good, as well as some freaky ethereal sounds. I've also enjoyed experimenting with some of the nonstandard tunings.I'm sorry that several buyers have experienced packaging issues. Mine worked fine out of the box.

There were keys that were loose and did not work. For a heavy, expensive item, this was a disappointment. Fortunately, it was accepted as a return including coverage for shipping.

We had to send the piano back because some keys would make a clacking noise. The first replacement had the same issue and so did the 3rd replacement. We finally gave up and asked for a refund. My husband (a piano teacher) recommends to check each single key while keeping the volume all the way down. Play each key 3 or 4 times and you will spot the defective ones. He made me hear the difference between the compromised keys and the good ones. It might be a coincidence, but our piano was coming from INSTRUMENTPRO, a store that in the past also sent us a defective Korg keyboard labeled as “Like New”.

The key board arrived with server keys in the lower end stuck as solid wood, it won't move at all. I tried to shake it gently, didn't help. When my wife who knows nothing about key boards and pouched each of the keys, all of them started working! After that it works great, nothing to complain.

This is an amazing digital piano. The weighted keys feel great and the sound is awesome. This is my first purchase of a digital piano, as I have an upright piano at home. I purchased this because I wanted something I could play at night without disturbing others in the house, and to travel when I am going to be away from home for a while. The feel of the keys is as good, if not better, than any other digital pianos I tried before buying this. I read a ton of people claiming other pianos had better keys, but I believe they have a bias because they are used to their current digital piano and this just felt different to them. The piano itself is very compact. It has a standard headphone jack on the front, and both mono and midi connections on the back. The quality audio from the headphones is great (I have AKG K702 headphones). I have also fed it into my usb audio interface and played back through the PC, which was also good (been using flokey's website for new songs to learn).SHIPPING: This is more a problem with the shipping company then the retailer or the piano, but this package showed up in terrible condition. The box had obviously been dropped, and the side had been torn open and taped back closed. The piano itself was exposed and could have easily been damaged. Luckily mine had not suffered any cosmetic damage. I have this problem regularly when ordering heavier objects, the carriers drop them 50-60% of the time. I would happily pay additional shipping to have these kinds of purchased placed in additional packaging to protect them further.

I think this is best described as a gigging digital piano, and not the best "first piano for the living room and kids to learn on". I'll explain, other digital pianos have built in speakers, drum patterns and similar "family digital piano" type of features. This one doesn't have speakers and no drums or one finger chord playing, but it does have the great feeling RH3 weighted action Keybead usually reserved for much more expensive digital pianos. This and the simplicity of the unit, the quality of the sounds makes it what I call a gigging piano. As a keyboard player trained on pianos, I was looking for that type of feel so I drove to music stores and tried all the different digital pianos from Yahama, Casio, Williams and more. The Korg RH3 keybead had the best feel for me and for the $629 price I bought it.The unit arrived and the box was beat up but not terrible. I got it setup with my monitor speakers, and played a few minutes, feeling how much I liked the key action. Unfortunately that's when I saw the last black key was broken (odd angle), made mechanical noises when I pressed it and didn't play the piano note. Damaged in shipping. So I had to send the piano back. I'm getting a new one tomorrow. If you're a family looking to purchase you first for your kids to learn on, I would recommend one with speakers built in. If you have a home studio and need/want a digital piano that works as a midi keyboard controller for your DAW...this works great. If you're a gigging piano player that will have PA/Amp/Speakers, this will be great.
