Ok so first off, I looked for ‘shower cap’, saw this is “large” and thought ‘eh, I’m a white lady who wears a bun or pony tail a lot, so the extra room will be appreciated’.And sure, it is. But this swim cap could easily handle a LOT more hair. The section to hold the hair is quite large. The seal around the edges is also really good, no slipping so hair will stay protected and dry.But it would need to be on an overall smaller head- because this is more than swim cap tight, this is ‘pop your head like bubble wrap tight’.It literally hurt and started a headache.But-I measured my head where this cap would go. From the base of my skull over my ears and across the forehead is 24”. Yea, I’ve gotta big head. If you had a measurement even 2” less, I think this would be a good fit for you.I would recommend to the company making this to give a ‘head measurement’ range for this, and explain how/where to measure one’s head. Please keep in mind that I was looking for a shower cap to begin with, and I didn’t need swimming level protection. But I know plenty of people with dreads who swim that would likely appreciate my telling them about this.

[April 2025 - My unbiased review of VegoVia's "Large Swim Cap for Braids and Dreadlocks, Waterproof Silicone Hairbrella Swimming Cap for Women Men Adult Long Hair to Keep Hair Dry"]We have a swim spa and I've been thinking of getting a cap. The last one I owned was very small and tight because I was swimming competitively and wanted it to be streamlined. Nowadays I only swim for fun, but I don't like the fun caps with flowers, etc, so I decided to look for a larger cap and chose this one because I have long hair and thought a more spacious cap might be good.I've measured this silicone cap and posted the photos for you. The edge is a lot thicker than an ordinary Speedo style swim cap, and the rest is also a bit thicker than a Speedo style cap too, but it's all still very stretchy. It fits me and my hair better if I put it on with the fold positioned vertically (so the fold goes from front to back) rather than horizontally (from ear to ear). The logo ends up above the left eyebrow, or behind the right ear.In more detail...I use a scrunchy to put my hair up in a ponytail, bend over so it hangs down, hold the cap stretched open as wide as possible below the end of the ponytail and lift the cap up so the ponytail kind of pools at the bottom. Then as I stand upright I pull the cap on, starting at the forehead and finishing up at the nape of my neck. I time the move so the ponytail hair falls and ends up at the back of my head... Very hard to describe, but I hope it makes some sort of sense! The thick edge of the cap is fairly tight on my head, but the looser main part avoids the headaches that my old very tight cap caused me sometimes. It does keep most of my hair dry, except some bits of the edge around the hairline. I'm glad it works well because I've sometimes decided not to bother going for a swim, due to not wanting to mess with a whole head of wet hair. The cap also prevents any loose hair ending up in the water, and hair conditioner, smoothing serum, etc, is kept out of the spa as well. That makes cleaning the spa easier and quicker, which is a bonus.

I got this swimming cap for my daughter. She loves to swim but has long braids. Typical swim caps are too small, so she normally swims without a cap. This causes a problem because chlorine and salt water can damage the hair. Also, her hair styles don't last as long. She tried this swim cap, and it totally covered her long braids. It is water resistant and fits comfortably. I rated it 4 stars because she said it was a little difficult to put on. Other than that, she loves the cap. Looking forward to the beach this summer!

VegoVia Large Swim Cap for Braids and Dreadlocks, Waterproof Silicone Hairbrella Swimming Cap for Women Men Adult Long Hair to Keep Hair Dry (Black)VegoVia Large Swim Cap for Braids and Dreadlocks, Waterproof Silicone Hairbrella Swimming Cap for Women Men Adult Long Hair to Keep Hair Dry (Black)I got the black XL swim cap for long hair and let me tell you-it would be perfect for people with long hair! So much space for a ponytail, bun or braids. It's actually too much space for me because I now have short hair, lol, but I would rather have extra room than being squeezed. It's not tight but it's comfortable and it's super stretchy while thick at the same time. I trust that it's durable enough for me to stretch while putting on and off which is important to me as I do not like the ones that can barely stretch and pull your hair while putting on. It covers the ears as well so I am confident it will keep the water out! And it can also function as a shower cap after that swim :)

The VegoVia Large Swim Cap for Braids and Dreadlocks does a good job of providing ample space for long hair, including braids and locs. The silicone material stretches well and fits snugly without feeling too tight, which helps it stay secure during swimming. It also does a decent job of keeping hair mostly dry, especially compared to standard swim caps. However, while the fit is generally good, depending on your head shape and how active you are in the water, it might still let in a little water around the edges. It’s not 100% waterproof but a solid choice for anyone looking to protect longer styles during swim sessions. The light pink color is also a nice touch for visibility and style.
