This flange fits a lot tighter than the combination sleeve and escutcheon it replaces and at first, I thought it did not fit. I cleaned the threaded plastic sleeve on the faucet stem. I used a bit of silicone grease after cleaning and it worked just fine. It's a great inexpensive way to clean up an old shower without having to replace everything.
