I was so excited for this item. The last time I did one of these was when I was a kid. On first glance, the kit is wonderful. They have a nice little carry case that you can keep your project in and all the yarn. The actual project seems very nicely done as I remember when I did mine I only got a grid type thing. However, this has the grid attached to a piece of fabric backing. I thought that was pretty fancy.However, the steps to actually do the latch hooking of the yarn onto the project are poor and not efficient. I did follow the steps and I stopped because I recalled that it wasn't that many steps when I did this before. Watch a video on YouTube, it'll make it much easier.The huge problem I faced, is that them attaching the backing to the project actually ruined it. I found that some of the columns do not go all the way down and disappear halfway down. I tried to move the pattern over, but I've had to start to peel back part of the sewn on edge to try to get everything to line up. It has become an annoyance.I do think these types of projects are fun for kids because I enjoyed the one I did as a kid. But not for someone that may get frustrated if they don't notice the irregularities off the bat. I think the whole package is great and maybe I just got a bad one but I don't think the value is there based off what I received. Though the idea of the design was great - the execution was not so much.
