I installed this outside for my container vegetable garden, away from direct sunlight, and with a small cover to keep the power block (not included) protected from the rain. The controls are simple and straightforward. Directions are not bad. Longevity will remain to be seen. It pumps well. I installed a container almost at the end of the line (third photo) to see how much water actually gets pumped at each plant. What you see there is a 24oz container, after about 9 hours, with the pump run time set at 2 minutes, every three hours. I would even set it for less than that if it wasn't so hot, or if you're planing to use it for inground plants. My tomato, cucumber, italian pepper and eggplant plants are doing just fine. Every time you change the settings on the pump, it will start a new cycle and will pump the amount of time you select. It does have an anti siphon device that works. If it lasts the season, it will be well worth the money.

First problem is that every time you adjust the length of watering time and/or the time interval, the system runs a full cycle. So adjusting it from 5 minutes to 2 minutes watering time runs a full cycle. You have to play with the system several time to see just how much your plants and pots need and it makes it more difficult if every time you do that, it runs a full cycle. Then beware a big issue: If your water source is higher than the the plants, it will slowly siphon off the water source EVEN WHEN it is not running. People use these things to water their plants for several weeks at a time when they are away from home. This situation could flood the area. Instructions tell you none of this.

I bought this watering system to water my new bonsai while I was on vacation. Even though the vacation had to be cancelled, the watering system is now allowing me to focus on important family issues instead of worrying about watering. I'm glad I bought this and that it works so well.

I was looking forward to using this to keep my plants alive while on a two month trip in the midst of summer. When it arrived I plugged it in and gave it perfunctory test. Having the on/off and start duration button dual purpose is horrible but I eventually did a test run without any tubing connected. It seemed ok. Then I went about setting up all the tubing and found a five gallon tank for water. Connected it all up, set it for two minutes every four days and...about half a minute after the pump started up the display started dancing with various segments flashing on and off. Not sure if this was normal I let it run. Fortunately I had had my phone timing things and after three minutes I manually shut it off. After that the display would sometimes be ok and not. Repeated attempts to program it would sometimes work and not. Since I wasn't about to risk having the unit run for an indeterminate time while I was away, it's going in the scrap heap. I ordered a different model with a dial for setting various functions (a lot easier!). It seems to be working fine and I'm leaving my plants in its care while I'm away.

Simple to setup although I needed the instructions to confirm my programing schedule. Unit is well built and robust to last many seasons. I won’t have to ask the neighbors for help when I am away for a couple of weeks. Oh…it is also well within my price range too.

I got this just in time before going on vacation for 10 days. I had just moved my habiscus indoor and they are always thirsty. Not knowing how long I should set the watering time..I took a gamble and set watering for 3m. To my surprise, it has kept all my habiscus looking well watered and not over. I may get a second one for my outdoor use.

Easy setup but you can't control flow rate. Still does the job.
