Battery has totally given out. It can't be used now without being plugged in. Lasted about 5 weeks. When the light worked the quality was very good. I was able to capture significant details with excellent picture quality. The light could be brighter. The Clip is too tight, limiting it's ease of use. The value for money would be much better if the battery worked. However, it's functionality is limited by the poor battery

This microscope has come in handy many times! It is well made and easily clips on to a smart phone. The built in light makes it easy to see any objects you want to look at. It's fun and useful for kids and adults to take a much closer look at things we need to, whether for school or just life stuff. Great little well made product!

LensXpert make a variety of different devices for smartphones and this 200x microscope is one of their best. It comes in decent retail packaging and looks fine as a gift, but nothing special. These are my main pros and cons for this product:Pro:Good optical resolution for 200xDecent dynamic range for such a compact lensUniversal design, works with most phonesInexpensiveCon:Not a perfect fit for any phoneFeels a bit cheapAs you can see the positives outweigh the negatives. You get nicely detailed images and a decent amount of range in both tone and colours.Attachment is never going to be perfect with a universal fitting, but as long as you aren’t touching it while taking images then it’s perfectly fine. For video you might want to secure it with some tape or other temporary adhesive product to remove the chance of any possible wobble. For many phones this won’t be necessary. This is a very lightweight addition to any phone and is worth taking with you while out and about, you never know when you might find something interesting to capture.Overall for the price I have to say this is great fun, and it gets five stars.

It's not often I find the need to see something at high magnification, but it does happen and I do prefer this to the cheap handheld microscope I was using. I really don't have any sense of what 200x magnification looks like, but this gets as close as I'd ever need it to.The way it clips onto your phone is adequate enough but far from the most stable or elegant solution, although I think that's reasonable given this is a universal accessory. I did have to take off my case, but I think one with a slimmer profile wouldn't create an issue. Getting everything lined up can be a bit finicky, and you have to mess with your camera settings to get it to hold on the correct lens. You also need to ensure that the housing is super clean so you don't trap grit and scratch a lens. The selling point is definitely the quality of the photos. The light provides even illumination, the focal point is at a distance that you can pretty much lay your phone against what you're trying to capture making it easy to get really clear shots. All in all, this is more a novelty grade item, albeit a good one. It's the kind of thing that you stick in a drawer and reach for a handful of times in a year. If your reaching for a microscope more than that, you'd probably want something a little more sophisticated. When you do break it out it's a ton of fun just looking around at everything to see what you see. I think thirty bucks is what I'd feel good about paying for this. The pics attached were taken with an iphone 14 pro. in order: 150 grit sandpaper, amazon brown paper mailer, tailors tape- mm scale, leg, printed cardstock (looks completely white with the naked eye, even up close)

This review is for the item described as “LensXpert® Smartphone Microscope with LED - Portable 200x Digital Microscope for Kids and Adults - Handheld Dermatoscope and Hair Analyzer - Compatible with iPhone and Android - Black”.This was very straight forward to operate. It came with some charge so I was able to try it out immediately. Once the phone camera is lined up with the microscope and the light is turned on (long press) you need to hold the microscope right down on top of what it is you are wanting to look at and/or photograph. I love that there is no requirement to use an app to operate this. It’s quite fascinating looking at some things so magnified. I tested it by taking a rather gruesome photo of a healing insect bite which I’ll not share, and I examined some close-up writing done with a ball point pen. I rather wish I hadn’t so closely examined my ring as it shows there are quite a lot of marks on it and it needs a good clean!I think this will be of most value to me for taking photos of skin lesions. Our GP won’t see you for a skin mark until you have first sent in a photo and this is ideal for that, but also for keeping a record of any changes to moles or spots. I can also see it being good for looking closely at jewellery as I did with my ring. People of all ages would love looking at things in the natural world in close-up - I would have loved to have had this as a sciency geeky child. I suspect I’ll find more applications for it over time. I like that it comes with a little storage back and even when boxed it is small and highly portable.
