Light Your Space the Smart Way

Leviton’s ceiling mount occupancy sensor offers users a smart way to save energy in larger commercial spaces, up to 1,500 square feet in area. Using passive infrared (PIR) technology, the OSC15-I0W occupancy sensor is perfect for commercial applications and areas such as cafeterias, classrooms, warehouses, offices with cubicles, and more. Ensuring the lights are only on when motion is detected in a room saves substantial amounts of energy. Leviton’s ceiling mount occupancy sensors require a Leviton OSP-series power pack, which is sold separately.

Save Energy with Occupancy Sensing Technology

The Leviton ceiling mount occupancy sensor utilizes passive infrared (PIR) detection technology and a segmented Fresnel lens to sense motion and occupancy in a room. Each segment of the lens monitors a different part of the room (these are sensor zones), ensuring coverage throughout the room. When a person passes into or out of a sensor zone, the sensor detects motion and activates the lights.

Advanced Features for Optimal Performance

Leviton’s OSC15-10W occupancy sensor utilizes advanced technology to provide the best performance and optimized energy savings, as well as substantial customizability. The occupancy sensor features an ambient light override option that can be custom-set to ensure that lights don’t turn on when the room is adequately lit from outside. The ambient light override can be set between two and 500+ foot-candles. When mounted at a height of eight to ten feet, the sensor provides 360 degrees of coverage for approximately 1,500 square feet. This wide coverage limits the need for additional sensors often required in larger spaces. Included with the sensor are pre-scored PIR masking disks that allow users to fine-tune the field of view, for example, preventing the sensor from detecting motion in an adjacent hallway. To further save power, the sensor has a walk-through setting that decreases the time delay to two-and-a-half minutes when someone momentarily walks through an area.

Easy Installation, Wide Compliance, and Leviton Quality

With only three low-voltage wire connections necessary and a twist-lock sensor attachment, the OSC-15 occupancy sensory is easy to install. The sensor is cUL/US-certified and is compliant with both the California Title 24 Energy Code and the ASHRAE Standard 90.1 requirements. Backed by more than a century of Leviton quality, the OSC-15 is supported by a five-year limited guarantee.

Kind of pricey. Paired with a relay. I use this to control closet lighting. Very nice product but expensive

I was looking for a motion detector for an 800 sq ft garage (approx 20’x40’). I had tried a cheaper, easier to install one that didn’t need an external power supply, but it didn’t have enough range. So I tried this one, and it almost worked. Again, not consistently enough range for a door about 20’ from the mid ceiling mounting point. Maybe because there is a car in the way, even though there is a clear line of sight? Anyways, I ended up supplementing this with another detector.I could have used two of these detectors with the one power supply to have full coverage, connecting them with 3 wire low voltage cable. Instead I opted to install a regular Leviton IPS-02 single gang motion detector in parallel with the output of this detector. I already had the switch leg and hot wiring at my door anyway. Since both this unit and the IPS-02 are relay outputs, you can just wire the switch leg in parallel with the load. Works fine. So, I have yet to find a solid wide range single ceiling mounted motion detector. Maybe for 800 sq ft with cars you would need to use one that also had ultrasonic detectors.

We paired four of these with the leviton OPP20-D2 power packs. We have two set up as a "3-way" and the other two are on their own. They are easy to set and work well.

This product works like a charm, controls my lights just how I want it to. It has a delay timer on so it only turns off a few minutes after last motion sense. I did not really like that it has to have a power pack in order to adapt to 110V. If I were to replace this I would look for something that contains a built in adapter to go from HV to LV or is meant to work with 110. Over all it was just one extra junction box and adapter, soldering the wires to the power pack and using heat shrink tubing over the wires also made it a clean job.

I have paired this with the Leviton OSP20-D0 Power pack and relay. I use two of these, which is probably overkill. My lights come on when I want them on and have not yet turned off when I wanted them on. Success.

I got this occupancy sensor for a small section of our warehouse. This particular area required you to walk across to the opposite side from the door to turn on the light. What??? Not sure who planned that when building, but this solved the problem. It will immediately pick up movement and turn the light. This is the most configurable motion sensor I've ever seen and it covers a huge area. Be sure to get the power pack for it (also sold on Amazon) or it won't work. I got the Leviton OSP20-D0 Power Pack.Work used to be such a pain when dealing with this area of the building. Not any longer. Considering the brand, I expect this to last a long, long time. Thanks Leviton!

Please note that this cannot be used by itself, it MUST be used in junction with a Leviton OSP Power Pack. Also, this is NOT DIY friendly. Allowing for the previous, this ceiling mount sensor is close to perfection.I already had this system set up so I knew what I was getting before I ordered it. An electrician installed this unit but if you are comfortable installing yourself, know that installation instructions are not included (you can find them online at Laviton's website). You need to install this at a junction box and it is a three wire connection. The unit itself is a simple twist and lock.Once installed, this sensor is a thing of beauty. This unit covers up to 1,500 sq. ft. (450 sq. ft. unit is also available) and its function is to turn on light once movement is detected, maintain light for the duration of detected movement and then turn off light when movement is no longer detected. It also prevents lights from being activated when enough natural light is detected. Very cool. This unit is used in a pantry but its application is limitless. I love how this occupancy sensor makes my pantry that more convenient by eliminating the need to pull the cord for the ceiling mounted light on and off, especially when leaving with my hands full. I want to install another in my laundry room. Better yet, it has helped save money as my kids raid the pantry and I no longer have to worry about lights being left on.I highly recommend this Leviton OSC15 as long as you are aware that it requires other devices to work and that installation is not a simply DIY project.

I should never have ordered this sensor, I admit it. It's a good product, but the instructions were complicated for me (wordy more than anything else) and I am not a handyman as such; I am not at all confident with these kind of projects. My problem. But with the the help of a much handier friend we did install this sensor yesterday and I have to say that it is a good fit for my 1400+ sf home. Lights come on and off as they should and it does seems to sense existing ambient light and adjusts for it.Time will tell but I think this is a good product for what it is supposed to do.
