- The lid stay is used for top-opening chests, such as toy chest or window seat with storage.

Toy Box
Safety is the biggest concern for kids. Easy to open and close. Due to strong connection between two arms, the safety hinge is hard to fold. Soft closing will work perfectly when preventing it from slamming shut and protecting kid safety. It slows the descent enough so as to not crush little fingers.
Kitchen
The lid stay can be hinged on the upward opening flap cabinet. If you are getting tired of having to hold the cabinet doors up and only having one hand free to reach in, it will meet your needs.

Easy to install, although the instructions are a bit confusing. The hardware included worked well. A 3/4" x 21" x 31" board weighted in at 10 lbs., so I installed two of these. It comes down really slow, but that's OK. Watch the installation video.

This worked perfectly on my wooden chest! I found it way easier to install than your standard ones, and it turned it into a soft closure. This is great because I keep my shoes in there and sometimes I want it to stay open. The door closes great, and as long as you follow the instructions, you really can't mess it up.

One needs to be very accurate on the installation. The YouTube video was really useful, but paper template needed to put emphasis on the distance to the hinge pivot point, not all boxes have the same hinge setup as the video. Once that was understood the setup was simple and everything worked really well.

Instructions are not good. Lots of useless information. Impossible to mark the upper support screw holes. Returning the second close support. There are many more choices with high number of positive reviews

I only installed one on an outdoor cedar storage chest but it is still too strong (the lid probably weighs about 15 lbs). I have to either push the lid all the way down or let it take 10 min to close on its own. I'm not sure about all the complaints about confusing instructions--I found it very easy to install with one caveat: the template for where to drill the holes is WRONG. I don't know if this was a printer mistake but the holes do not line up. Luckily I noticed this and I only used the template to drill the middle hole and then just used the mounting plate to drill the remainder.
