The master key included did not fit the Thule core, so it does not work to remove the old core. Some of the wording in the ad mentions Yakima but the core does seem roughly the same as a Thule core. Not able to confirm 100% because I couldn’t remove the old core.

I needed replacement lock cylinder for my Thule Sonic roof box (circa 2016 model). Bought this aftermarket set. Upon installation, the cylinder would go to the lock position, but it could be easily moved to the unlocked position with a partially inserted key (any key or even a screwdriver or a dime). I suspected the lock pins were not robust enough to hold it in the locked position. So I bought genuine Thule cylinders from Thule.com. They were noticeably more robust. In the picture, you can see the Thule on the top (dark metal) and aftermarket (shiny metal) on the bottom. Compare the thickness of the lock pins, and note that the Thule has 5 pins, whereas the aftermarket has only 4. The Thule pins also had noticeably stronger springs pushing them out. As a result, the Thule held the lock position, wheras the aftermarket would not. You get what you pay for it seems.

Great cost effective alternative to purchasing from Thule. I have purchased 2 sets now(8 total locks) for the 4 Thule gutter mount crossbars on my vehicle that hold an awning and rtt. I like that they give you so many keys and master keys but feel that’s a little unnecessary, but I do like the little case that comes with it. I keep the keys for all my different rack systems(bike, cargo etc) in it so they’re all together.The Thule ones may be stronger maybe? But for the price, these are a great peace of mind and if anything a great deterrent. All installed fine into used gutter mounts sourced from marketplace without locks.Highly recommend, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a 3rd+ set if ever needed.

I was worried at first that these wouldn't work because I couldn't get the master to remove the old (unlocked) Thule lock cores, but figured it out and was able to pop these ones in. Easy-peasy. So much easier than going to a Thule-affiliated locksmith and having them dig through the full ring and so much less expensive than a brand new Thule core.

These work just as they should on my Thule ski rack, not sure if they will prove as reliable but seem fine. What i cant understand is why on earth i would need a hard case for lock cylinders. What an absolute waste of energy and material just to drive up the cost a few dollars.

I needed a quick snowboard rack so i bought the thule snowrack without the locks for 60 bucks and then i needed the locks so i got them here for like 20 i think and i saved 140 bucks, locks work great, instructions were simple, took about a minute to install
