I tried this out on one of my plants that was showing distress from lack of watering, yet this meter didn’t show that the soil was dry. I watered the plant, the plant perked up, so I don’t know whether or not to trust this.

I'm pretty sure this is accurate although I'm not completely convinced -- yet. I'll update if I discover it's not accurate enough to be worth purchasing. But so far, it seems to adequately measure the amount of soil in the planters. The only reason I hesitate is stating it is 100% accurate is that yesterday I measured a catnip plant and it indicated the highest amount of moisture. Today I came out onto the patio to discover the catnip plant was nearly completely wilted. To be fair--we had a lot of wind, that afternoon after measuring as well as overnight and up to time I discovered the plant wilted. It was also in the sun... so it's very likely the soil dried out. I watered it well and the catnip plant recovered.I like the extra long probe. The meter is easy to read. It's simple to use -- no batteries needed. I'm going to purchase another one to keep in the lower yard so that I don't have to run back and forth all the time. It's reasonably priced.I have no reason not to recommend this meter.

This is best for indoor or shallow probing. I tried to use it for an outdoor newly planted shrub and the probe bent easily.

The product came right on time. I measured the moisture level for all of my plants and so far, I'm pleased. I'll wait until next week Monday to check for accuracy again. It's been a week and the meter is fantastic! Loving it's accuracy and easy reading. My update since May 2024: The meter has helped tremendously and is still functioning properly. I love the long needle because I have large pots. (10/12/24)

I’m not sure if I got a bad one but the meter never moved above 2 even a plant that I thoroughly soaked, waited 20 minutes and checked, still read 2. It’s going back.
