I can't comment much on the product quality but just wanted to leave a note here that this does *not* fit the Warm Audio WA-87ii, which annoyingly uses a proprietary/non-standard thread size.I quickly found somebody else who could make use of this though.

Well built, heavy enough for most mics that it fits. The long 25mm collar fits Neumann U87 and many clones including Slate ML-1 and United UT Twin87. The long 22mm collar fits my MXL 990 and many similar mics. The short 22mm collar fits my Groove Tubes 5sm. There is also a 20mm collar but I don't know what those fit.It would be nice if there was also a short 25mm collar for the Neumann TLM 102, 103, 193 and others — but there isn't. Oh well. Many similar shock mounts include an extra pair of bands and a 3/8 to 5/8 stand adapter. The one I received has neither (I'll live). Anyway, I'm keeping it.

Yes. It's a good short term shock mount for the money.Body is a metal alloy texture spray, mold job, with some metal washers and a plastic fastener. It's 20x less than a Neumann. Still gonna' lose a star for the dubious metal claim. That said, it's good enough and if handled accordingly, should last you until you can spring for an authentic Neumann Shock Mount.

I bought this shock mount for my U87. I also have a Rycote shock mount for it that works well but I thought I would check this out because of the cheap price and the look. The body of this shock mount is built pretty well. Before I bought I checked these reviews and noticed a few had said the elastic bands either came broke or broke right away. So I took a chance and purchased Neumann replacement bands from B&H for under $10 at the same time I purchased this. When this shock mount arrived the first thing I did was test the bands by stretching them and one did indeed pull apart without much stretching. The Neumann replacement bands fit this shock mount pretty good and being factory replacements from Neumann they are of good quality. Overall this combo works good and for under $40 (including new bands) not a bad alternative to spending $380 or so for the Neumann shock mount. (The pics are with the Neumann bands)

At less than 10% the price of the Neumann U87 shock mount, this option is perhaps the best deal on the planet. This shock mount is of solid construction and most comparable to what Neumann has to offer. It comes with 4 mounting cylinder options for various microphones. You will, however, find the finish does not match the Neumann nickle finish on your U87, but at $27 who cares? It does the job! And I think that sums up the whole point and probably why this shock mount came to be in the first place. At $399 the Neumann U87 model shock mount is way over priced and guaranteed to give you a case of mounted Sticker Shock! It's bad enough that you've already shelled out $3200 to $3500 for the U87 itself, but another $400 smackers from the shock mount..? Come on Neumann! give us a break. This item will works just as well at less than a 10th price.

I have owned this for about 2 hours and the top bungee just snapped while sitting completely still. Probably not the best idea to trust a $2,400 (or over $3,000 if you have the U87) mic in a $24 shock mount. Luckily no damage was done to my mic. But if you're going to spend that amount of money on a mic, just go with the brand name mount. This mount cannot be trusted to keep your equipment safe.

I had another shock mount (Black) for about the same price, but I must say this one is a perfect match. I read other posts and fortunately I have nothing bad to say about this beauty. I can't imagine this thing breaking down. The rubber band seems strong, they all stretch out eventually. Delivery was fast- NO COMPLAINTS.

I have an older Neumann U87 from the late 60s, that I got without any kind of mic clip or shockmount. These microphones are notoriously difficult to fit with inexpensive aftermarket shock-mounts. The tapered body does not like to cooperate with spring-loaded "wraparound" holders, and the weird recessed thread and size makes them unsuitable for common offerings from Samson, Rode, etc. This one does the trick! It is the Neumann-style "bottom ring" type of shockmount, and it comes with several different types and sizes of bottom rings. It was easy to find the right one for my U87, and it screws in securely. Compared with the $300+ Neumann shockmount on my other U87, it has the following deficiencies:- The thumbscrew-knob where you tighten the angle of the shockmount support is not as "grabby" as on the genuine Neumann shockmount, making it harder to precisely angle the mic for specific placements. 90% of the time, I am using the mic hanging upside down, perpendicular to the floor, where this holder works just fine.- The "bottom ring" is not permanently attached to the shockmount. It just threads through the hole on the bottom of the shockmount and tightens onto the threads in the microphone. This means that twisting or pivoting the mic rotation can potentially loosen the threads that hold the mic onto the shockmount. If you run a studio where stupid people are frequently positioning multi-kilobuck microphones, it might be worth investing in the Neumann shockmount.
