A drive failed after 6 years & spent the last few days trying to troubleshoot. The software doesn't tell you ANYTHING other than that the drive is in a failed state. Further steps to use third party tools connect to the LSA/MegaRAID software went nowhere. They also showed that the controller doesn't support S.M.A.R.T even though it is advertised as if it does & is one of the main reasons I bought it. It may have some minor built-in drive diagnostics, but those diagnostics autorun & don't give you any information whatsoever.

Tried the solution with 12GB/s controller and 12GB/s SAS drives in order to overcome the SAS/SATA speeds limitations. Using it with 4x 8TB Seagate SAS drives in a HP server. I would say I;m pretty happy, with real speeds in a moderate load environment reaching 8-9GB/s of data transfers This is 1,5 time more that SATA III. The controller has been installed for 6 months now - no issues.
