The thread inserts are aluminum, and the threads are course. This would not be ideal for heavy applications, however it is a nice set, nice case, nice tools. They work well and will be suitable for medium duty applications.

I perform a lot of thread repairs using a few different types of inserts. This style is by far the best overall for long term/permanent repairs. Well worth the extra cost in the long run. Best results when used on a milling machine but they can be done with a hand drill or drill press if needed.
