The texture of the ball has a smoother and softer feel which promotes increased gripability. And 80% butyl bladder means improved air retention. However you play the game, the MacGregor Rubber Volleyball Royal/White can help you play it better.

This is an unfair review because I am reviewing the MacGregor X300 Rubber Volleyball as a potential replacement for the now discontinued Tachikara WB2000 Court Justice wallyball. For anyone who doesn't know what wallyball is, it is basically volleyball that is played in a racquetball court where the walls can be used in play. The size and weight of the MacGregor X300 feels comparable to the Tachikara. The MacGregor X300 suggests an inflation of 5-6psi. This is the same as the Voit rubber volleyball which some are considering as a candidate. The Tachikara suggests an inflation of 2-3psi. The MacGregor is sort of a middle ground in regards to texture between the much harder rubber of the Voit and the very soft rubber material of the Tachikara. Both the McGregor and the Voit seem to have a shiny grip coating that tends to rip the hairs out from your arms. This coating might wear down eventually. As a rubber volleyball, the X300 meets all of the requirements which results in a five-star review. As a wallyball I would give the X300 a solid 4-star review, which is better than the what I would give the Voit, which we discontinued using as a wallyball.

I'm giving it 5-stars specifically for what my son uses this volleyball for. If you wanted to buy a volleyball for gym or your competitive volleyball team.....then it's one-star. This is a super cheap but durable, all rubber volleyball. PLEASE understand that. Good and great volleyballs are made of leather or very, very good imitation leather/composites. My son loves volleyball and is constantly serving and spiking volleyballs against our brick wall in our driveway when he practices by himself. After going thru and shredding several leather volleyballs, I decided to buy him something a little more durable.....you can imagine what a rough brick wall will do to a leather ball after hours and hours and days of hitting against it. I don't fully inflate this all rubber McGregor volleyball. It's important to slightly under inflate it. All fully inflated all rubber volleyball hurts and stings. This has held up just fine after a few months. I would NOT recommend this all rubber volleyball for rec play or competitive play, but it's awesome for banging against brick walls.

This was the exact volleyball that I was looking for. I play in a volleytennis league & this is the type of volleyball that we use.

Pretty terrible ball for indoor and beach. Very grippy. Not sure why anyone would want a rubber volleyball. Bought the ball to practice. Bounces way too fast indoors and cannot be used on a beach without collecting a ton of sand
