MagnaFlow universal catalytic converters form the basic building blocks for a comprehensive line of direct-fit applications. The main benefit of the universal catalytic converter is that one unit may cover a wide variety of vehicle makes and models. Installing universal converters often requires the use of welding, cutting and tube bending equipment that is readily available to most professional installers. All federal catalytic converters meet EPA requirements. Federal catalytic converters are not legal for sale, installation or use on vehicles registered in the state of California.

This unit is compact light weight. That should have been my clue. These have been discontinued by the manufacturer (on the phone as I type this). MagnaFlow would not confirm that this is road legal. The manufacturer questioned my selection of this cat. Huh? I found it on their website, which stated that it was for pre-cat and main cat use. It is also listed as universal and they had 110 in stock. I was also told that it was possibly rejected because it was etched "For off road use only" I'm not always the sharpest knife in the drawer but the sole purpose of this purchase was to get my truck on road compliant. Not a detail that I would likely miss. So now there is more to the story. This part is new old stock(mfg show 110 in stock on app), it was good for the road as recently as 2016. Regulations were tightened and this part is no longer compliant and the part has been upgraded to #60111. This part #60011 to my knowledge is compliant for off road use. This part is not legal for use on the road. Yes it is EPA compliant "FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY!!!" It will be an expensive mistake if you buy this for on road use. It is well made and should last for years but is for off road use only. The listing only states "Not CARB compliant". The manufacturers website states "These MagnaFlow diesel converters are not exempted by CARB for on-road applications. Nowhere in the listing did it state that this part is for off road use only.
