Not sure where others would get use out of this but so far it has helped me out in a facility I have storage units in and there is metal everywhere.I have no problem using this while there and it holds very well and does exactly what it is supposed to.I haven't checked for damage on the paint but I will.Didn't expect it to work as well as it does. Very impressed.

I keep surprising myself with how much I pull this out to use it. For my job, I'm constantly setting myself up in different locations, rarely with a desk. This keeps me off the dirt, and out of the grime. My computer is glad for it. This case has super strong magnets, clamps shut pretty well, and even has a little padded insert. I will probably customize it a bit more with some cut-to-shape foam, but for now it's great. Another customization idea is covers for the magnets, so you don't scratch any vehicles you may use it on.Just don't put it down in the ground, you'll never get the magnets cleaned off...

I use my laptop in odd places. I spend a lot of time with it in my Jeep as I use it to help adjust and tune my system. I work from home, so sometimes I'll have my computer out when I'm working on a vehicle, or out playing with my dog. I normally just set it down somewhere, which is risky as all heck, especially when tools are flying around. I have a laptop stand inside my Jeep, but that doesn't help me when I'm working outside of it. I hadn't really considered the problem, but when I saw this stand I realized what my problem was and that this could fix it.It arrived in a plain box and contains the stand and a non-slip mouse pad.Use is pretty easy. There are four big magnets on one side, that is the top that you press against the metal surface. This is a decent solution for the problem of using my laptop inside. The magnets are heavy duty and hold very tightly, having tested this against my fridge. The stand itself is rugged and I don't think it's going to break anytime soon. Being solid metal it's a great way to transport the laptop without it being smushed. There are some downsides. It barely opens all of the way, so if it's not held against metal the lid can easily fall closed in use. The magnets are not covered in any way, which is a bad oversight. There are a lot of metal surfaces I could use that I can't now because I don't want them damaged. They could have put thin silicone pads over these for almost no cost and it would have prevented this. Such a shame.Overall this is a decent magnet stand for a laptop. If you're going to press the magnets against scratchable surfaces you'll want to find some way to cover the magnets, but otherwise it's good to go out of the box. If you can live with the limitations, go for it.

This laptop stand is exactly what I was hoping to find. When I am not writing reviews, I am regularly out in mine sites, with my laptop and/or tablet, reverse engineering a variety of components. These environments are dusty and dirty. They can be underground below a giant crusher or out in a distant lay-down yard with absolutely no safe place to rest my tech gear. For years, I have used dusty machines or even literal dirt piles as desks. I have killed a few computers.Coming from that world, this tool is a godsend. Not only does it provide a clean, safe place to rest and use my tech, but it also helps with ergonomic issues that often arise from having to use the best possible spot for the gear. So often, those spots are entirely unbeneficial from an ergonomic perspective. This device provides a location that is safer. Safer for my gear. Safer for my back, neck, and knees. Since it offers an ergonomic advantage, I can actually make better use of the limited time I have to perform my tasks. It prevents back pain that can truly knock me off my game. It is terribly difficult to concentrate on the job as my back gets stiffer and stiffer through the day. This tool completely eliminates a huge portion of negative stimuli. Additionally, it actually provides a break for my muscles to loosen up between forays inside, on top of, or below equipment. In terms of quality, expect to be happy. This platform is as solid, or more solid, than I had imagined. I love how rigid the joints are made. They offer a healthy amount of resistance to movement. The magnets are very strong and adjustable to fit the environment. The plastic chosen is super strong. Beyond being strong naturally, the plastic is properly thick and properly ribbed to assure far more rigidity than I expected to receive. The only negative would be a lack of a smooth area for the mouse. The entirety of the inside of this platform has hatched ribbing. That works great for assuring strength and airflow. I do think that the airflow could be improved with openings at the bases of the ribs to allow air to pass away from the underside of the laptop. A mousepad/laptop mat is included, but I believe it hampers airflow while offering only a minimal level of functionality for the mouse. A small flat area for the mouse would have been helpful. I'll likely end up 3D printing something to do the trick. The minor design issues considered, this is still an amazingly helpful tool. I am so glad to finally have this.
