Crossflow wave maker VS Tranditional wave maker

  • Water Flow Direction: Crossflow Wave Pump introduces a horizontal water flow, departing from the point-to-column water movement characteristic of traditional pumps. This innovation replicates natural ocean currents, fostering a more realistic aquatic environment.

  • Water Flow Distribution: In contrast, the Crossflow's wide outlet ensures even water distribution across the entire tank, overcoming the point-focused flow of traditional pumps. This design minimizes dead spots and contributes to a healthier aquarium ecosystem.
Modes

Versatile Wave Modes and Convenient Feeding Pause

MagTool Crossflow Wave Pump offers four modes to meet the needs of aquarium inhabitants:

  1. Constant Flow Mode:Provides a stable and continuous water flow for a tranquil seabed environment.
  2. Pulse Mode:Delivers short bursts of strong water flow, simulating natural tidal effects.
  3. Tidal Mode:Mimics the rise and fall of tides, creating a dynamic water flow experience.
  4. Turbulent Mode:Generates a complex and multi-directional water flow, simulating ocean turbulence.

Users can easily customize the frequency in Pulse and Tidal Modes for a resonant wave experience. The pump also features a convenient feeding mode, allowing users to pause the pump for 10 minutes with a single press, facilitating coral or fish feeding. This multi-mode design ensures a flexible and tailored water flow, enhancing the aquarium experience for enthusiasts.

This product overall I have had no issues with and for the price has been great compared to other pricier options such as maxspect or AI. I will say however with this cheaper price you lose out on some features and abilities such as setting the water flow to a specific power setting instead of being stuck at 40%-100%. This being said, the gyre has a metric F load of flow for what it is as I run this thing at 40% power on random. This is not suitable in a tank under 60 gallons for most lps/ soft corals as it will be WAY too much flow but does well in the application of sps. Regarding fish and inverts, most seem to do ok in a tank smaller than 60 gallons, but wouldn’t recommend for anything besides species that like heavy water flow. For a tang/ angel/ rabbit fish grow out tank this would be perfect but I would stray away from it if you are trying to do a mixed reef in a 40 gallon but this may just be my own personal opinion. Durability wise and ease of use/ cleaning this is a perfect product as it seems to be extremely hardy.

I got this wavemaker and was great for about a month, then it gave an e7 error. After cleaning it over and over i messaged the company who said they would send a new motor and over a month later i havent recived a motor and they no longer respond to emails. Dont buy from this brand. Not worth the money

Consiglio acquisto

Really solid wavemaker, extremely quiet. The display on the control pad is super sleek and it even comes with the wall mounting bracket. The magnet could be a little stronger however it doesnt slip at all on my 3/4 in. glass Extremely happy with the purchase especially saving well over double compared to other brands.

I had this in a 15g spa tank and then moved it to a 60 cube.In the sps nano the water movement was right where you wanted it all my sps had great pe. I ended up upgrading to the 4200 for that tank.On the 60 cube I use it to increase evaporation so it is angled up to increase surface agitation

Recently bought a hyger wave maker for $10 less than this one and it was terrible, vibrating very loud sounded like car with subs driving bye. This one is very quiet and well built. The motor attaches to frame with a rubber mount that absorbs the minimal vibrations from the motor. Can’t hear it run even with ear right next to acrylic. Very powerful I’m on the lowest speed in a 32 gallon cube and it works great. At a third the price of bigger name brands this product is a must.

As with other MagTools products this gyre pump is sturdy, well-made and came perfectly packed. I installed this in a 40-gallon IM AIO mixed reef. It is quiet and powerful, and seems very capable of producing nice water movement in the tank. I followed the MagTools guidelines to select the smallest size, based on the tank measurements. Obviously you would want to take more than that into consideration such as the way your rocks are laid out, dead spots, etc but this has more than enough power for my tank set up. While the pump works very well, I was disappointed that there are no options to program it for specific times throughout the day and night. Whatever you select will just run at that setting and strength until you manually change it. This is a problem if you want the inhabitants of the tank to have options such as calmer waves at certain hours to give them a break. I have a few tanks and I prefer to schedule waves and water movement so that they have a variety of options to mimic the way they would have in the wild. While this pump has a set of basic options (tidal, random, pulse, constant) you have to manually select one at a time and it lacks a scheduling feature, which is, in my opinion a critical feature.

Tons of water movement in my 40 breeder, I took all my powerheads out that had been on timers, the tank looks so clean and uncluttered now. Lps/sps dominated tank, feeding button to turn it off for a bit. On Random at 40% it moves all the water in my tank.I am so impressed

Gyre wave patterns are just the only way to go. They have a wide flow that will reach behind rock scapes and across the entire tank to prevent dead pockets that allow detritus to build up. Stirs up everything so your filters can capture and remove. Also we this DC version allows you to dial up or dial back the flow. The feeding function is fantastic worth 10 minutes delay so good isn't blowing around during feeding time. Then if course there are additional modes so you can more closely simulate a reef with pulses. I especially love the strong magnetic attachment rather than suction cups that will eventually not do their job. Can be placed horizontal or vertical as you desire. And near silent operation! Very happy with this purchase.

Came really well packaged and laid out in a way the highlighted the components, giving it a high end feel lol. The glossy controls came with a nice holder that you can mount and the magnet is super powerful so definitely not going anywhere. In the past, I've had some with thin cables and I've been afraid of them either coming loose or the sheathing cracking or something like that but these have heavy duty cables that make me feel safe putting it in my tank. There are also disconnects that will be convenient whenever something has to be moved, without having to pull everything apart. Does a great job providing a good current in my 40B without tossing things around.
