These kinda push the food rather than getting underneath to flip it. The metal ones with silicone edges work much better.

I got a fish spatula exactly like this one in culinary school, from which I graduated in 2010 (enrolled summer '09), that broke about 6 months ago. My husband and I used it pretty frequently so we had to replace it right away and I was pleased to find that this one is a perfect dupe. I fully expect to get same/similar mileage out of this one (14 years for a spatula is pretty impressive, IMO). You could probably get even more if you don't put it in the dishwasher. The handle is wood, so you probably shouldn't put it in the dishwasher, but we do anyway because we don't have the kind of time to be hand washing every silly thing.

Thicker than expected. Works well, but thinner, less sturdy fish is harder to flip.

I have purchased 2 of these! I just love them! Light weight, flexible yet sturdy, easy to clean, easily slides under a salmon filet and removes skin, great for scraping the bottom of a pan while making thick sauces… I’m finding more and more things to use them on!!I’ve had these 2 spatulas for many months now…. I LOVE THEM! I absolutely cannot imagine anyone complaining about them! I can flip any fish, or hamburgers, with ease…stir sauces in my cast iron skillets, and serve portions with these. I’m soooo glad I purchased two of them!

A good tool, just not quite thin enough at the business end. I need something a little more delicate for lifting crepes away from the pan.UPDATE I've now used this tool more, and for everything other than pancakes it's the best thing ever. The shape and the curve make it very easy to move and control the food, just the way you want it. I'm adding a star to my review and I might buy another one...

It was a bit smaller than I expected. Due to the short length of the handle, you tend to grip it in a different way, sometimes I use a "pencil" type grip. I bought this as a multipurpose spatula, for frying (e.g. Eggs and meat) and it was good at that. But for stir-frying, and for cooking fried rice where you have to constantly stir, it was a bit hard to use. It was way too soft and the energy gets transferred to your hand and arm, I was sore after a while. So I reverted back to my stiffer turner. This fish spatula is well made and for its intents and purposes, (cooking FISH), it should be great, especially if you are using non-stick pans and you do not want to scratch them. But if you have stainless pans or carbon steel or something like that, you are better off with a steel spatula/turner.

I've recently begun cooking using Lodge cast iron pans & was looking for a one piece silicone turner. I've seen fish turners before. But, I never bought one because I don't eat fish. But, I wanted something that I could use while browning hamburger or sauteing vegetables. I decided to give this a try & it is fantastic. My husband & I both find ourselves reaching for this utensil more than any other. I can get every little bit of sauted onions & garlic out of my skillets. I can scrape the sides of my pans much easier with this utensil. It's also sturdy enough to flip hamburgers & pancakes. I love the fact that it is one piece which is much more sanitary than the utensils that have handles joined to the end of tool. You don't have any food particles getting stuck in any nooks or crannies with a one piece tool. While I can place it in the dishwasher, I don't because I know I'd just have to pull it out & wash it before I'd need to run the dishwasher. I want it handy when I cook.

My family loves fresh seafood - so much so that rather than the 'Friday Fish' night we always did because that's what the hubby's family did when he was growing up, I'll make some sort of fish or seafood dish several times a week. I kept getting frustrated with my 'regular' spatula trying to flip the fish in the pan without destroying it (and ultimately ruining the plated portion of the meal ala Ramsay).I started thinking maybe there's something to be said about having an actual fish spatula, but since I alternate between a steel pan, a non-stick pan and my cast iron pan (depending on the recipe), I didn't want to get more than one spatula, and figured getting a silicone one would be safe for all my pans.I was right.I also wondered if the spatula itself would be functional, comparing the images to my 'regular' plastic and silicone spatulas, and if the thickness of the silicone on this one would be cumbersome for flipping fish. I needn't have worried. It's thick enough to handle the heartiest cut of fish, yet thin enough not to destroy the fish in the process of flipping. The only thing I wish is that I'd thought to get one of these sooner, because it really does work much better than my 'regular' spatula. Since I have my kitchen accented with red items, of course I had to go with the red one.I love it! You will, too.

Very, VERY well built. The metal blade is very stiff with no feelings of flimsiness. Wood handle is smooth and very well secured. Doesn't feel like the handle will ever come out of the blade or shed splinters. This is a surprisingly good mixing spatula. Useful for stir fries as well thanks to its reach. All in all one of my most used kitchen utensils. Definitely not for use on teflon, though.
