When my iMac M3 (Sequoia 15.3) 'sleeps' the drives disconnect with the "Disk Not Ejected Properly" message. After purchasing the product I received an e-mail from MAIWO which (amongst many other things - all good), stated:If the drive indicators went out, please contact us to update firmware via Amazon Message. >>So I sent them a message via Amazon and in reply to their e-mail.If this works, I will keep the product - otherwise I will return it end-of-Feb.Otherwise it is fine so far - but the problem above is not tolerable for the long term.

If I have to help someone with a device that won't boot, I can just plug the hard drive in here to retrieve the data. Also, you can re-use the disk drives from computers that have died to set up a poor man's NAS.

This product is mere garbage. For starters, the performance is not as advertised; at best, it performs at 20%~40% of its advertised speed ratings. Not the USB port, not the USB cable, and not the operating system, as I've tried many different ones on different computers and on 2 different operating systems. The culprit is the hardware on this crappy device!Additionally, after a few minutes of heavy writing to the connected drives, it will lose connection, likely due to bad hardware it was built with, which will result in errors such as the ones on the attached image. The UASP driver it has is beyond crap too. While computers will recognize the drives on this device as standard block devices and seem to operate correctly, they most certainly will not.Using this for serious things will more than likely end up corrupting your data and if not, it will for sure give you a bad time.Lesson learned: just spend a few extra bucks for certainty over being cheap and getting really crappy hardware such as this device. This is being returned as of this posting.

One of the worst products I have ever purchased. This device always disconnects from my PC for no apparent reason. Don't waste your time on junk like this.

The Bays are big, so the HD are loos, wiggle, with potential for data loss. Can NOT connect 3 at the same time (12 HD at once) (not enough power from MY USB ports).I still use it via Network Share, and it serves it purpose, just not the best.Oh, the holes are exposed to dust, would be better if they were backwards or covered by the flaps.

My home pc failed hard and needed replacement. Decided to move to the Apple ecosystem. However I have a plethora of drives used for storage. Wanted a way to "pool" the drives without purchasing a NAS etc. Came across this unit which fits the bill. I have an older Black X single HDD dock but found USB1 is simply too slow for the amount of data to be transferred etc. Item received the next day and inserted four drives however for some odd reason only three of them would be read by the OS as properly formatted regardless if I moved the drives around. I'm using the latest version of Sonoma of MacOs via Mac M2 Studio. After some attempts I decided to return this and scheduled a pickup for rma. However that same evening I decided to format each drive independently on an old windows 7 netbook and then attempted to get all four drives formatted and read by MacOs. To my surprise it worked. I then proceeded to set up a Raid0 across all four with a fifth drive as a back up.I cancelled my return and thus far it's been rock solid.Note, this dock is not UASP enabled so forget about that extra speed boost. This dock with all drives populated and with some heavy usage will generate some heat. I do believe this is due to the drives themselves even though they are green drives. For the price and its function it fits the bill. Recommend!I have not tested the cloning but it's nice knowing the option exists.
