About this item

  • 10 Makita 4-1/2” Cut Off Wheels: 4-1/2-Inch x .045-Inch x 7/8-Inch wheels designed for flush cuts on metal & stainless steel | Optimized for Makita 4-1/2” Angle Grinders and compatible with all 4-1/2” Angle Grinders
  • Increased Cutting Duration & Precision: Cut up to 2-3X more than lower quality or excessively thin wheels. Benefit from balanced cut life, cut rate, cut precision, power demands & heat buildup with this wheel's carefully selected grain grit, hard bond matrix & wheel thickness
  • Efficient Flush Cuts: Smoothly, easily & quickly cut through hard-to-reach metal, steel, and stainless steel parts, including rebar, steel pipe, structural & galvanized steel, sheet metal, structural tubing, black steel, cable & small to medium diameter solid pieces
  • Superior Bond Matrix for Safe & Durable Cuts: Makita’s proprietary strong Synthetic Resinoid Bond matrix binds Premium White Aluminum Oxide with Phenol Resin, allowing for optimal grain wear which yields accurate cutting performance, precision, longevity, stability & integrity
  • Quality Assured & Contaminant-Free: Designed for hard-to-reach areas and continuous use on stainless steel, these wheels are Quality Assured, Contaminant-Free, containing less than 0.1% Iron, Sulfur or Chlorine, for rust & corrosion-free results for your Stainless Steel material
  • Optimized for Demanding Applications: Experience easier, long-lasting & efficient cuts with higher amperage &/or torque angle grinders for demanding applications on stainless steel and other metals

Engineered for Flush Cuts & Hard-to-Reach areas, these 10 Makita Depressed 4-1/2” Cutting Wheels for Metal & Stainless Steel are a joy to work with. For best results, place wheel at a 90-degree angle, perpendicular to the work surface, applying the proper amount of pressure to allow the cutting wheel to do the work. For best results, consider not pushing too hard on the wheel, which can cause the grinder to stall or kick back or give a less efficient cutting action, while also increasing the chances of slippage or loss of control of the tool, resulting in injury or damage. Applying light to moderate pressure and consistent movement will provide the most efficient cut and minimize heat build-up. Consider using light pressure and a consistent motion throughout the cut for the fastest cut-rate and prolonged wheel life. Excessive pressure through the cut causes increased friction and heat build-up, which can cause increased heat discoloration of the work piece and reduced wheel life. For demanding applications, higher amperage &/or torque angle grinders provide easier, long-lasting & efficient cuts.

The wheels last a decent amount of time while cutting steel. And they appear to not tend to break apart and cut any important body parts. That’s all I need.

First use- cut rusted brake rotor off truck. Hardly any wear on disk

Worse cutting wheels I've ever used. These wheels quickly wore down, chipped, or exploded after less than 3 minutes of use. One wheel exploded just from turning on the Makita grinder, when the center ring became detached from the wheel! I wasn't using them aggressively, and because they quickly broke I was being super gentle with them, and cutting only thin sheet aluminum. In fact I gave up and just cut the aluminum with a shears. Every wheel was used up in about 1/2 hour. Was it me? I don't think so, because I had some older Makita cutting wheels of the same specification, and they lasted as expected. There's some sore of process issue with these wheels.Unless I got a bad batch, I don't recommend buying these cut off wheels.

I used these to cut metal roofing material to use as foundation dressing. I cut pieces for 80 linear feet and used about 13 wheels. They wore down quite quickly but when fresh cut like butter. As they wore down there was some skipping. This was my first time using a grinder so the skipping part could be due to inexperience.

I need the grinder for my project as soon as possible because the local rental shops did not have a tool that could cut Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe. I order the Makita Grinder and 10-pack grinders disks and they arrived the next day.The Makita Grinder and grinder disks cut through the pipe like butter. Excellent tool.

These are about the price of no name cutting wheels and last about twice as long. I will be ordering more when I run low.

I bought the ten pack thinking they would wear out quickly cutting through 1/8th inch stainless steel. "Cut like a hot knife through butter" (well, almost). I cut a dozen 1" straps out of a 6" x 14" x 1/8" ss sheet using only 1 blade, wearing it down a bit more than 3/8". At the rate I use these cut-off blades, I won't need to purchase additional ones for a decade! Very pleased.

I bought these cut-off wheels for my grinder because it requires the depressed arbor 4.5 inch discs and they are affordeable and do the job.
