I bought this as a backup for the wheel on my Makita 98202 Wet Wheel sharpener. The original wheel still has plenty of life left in it, but I intend to use the sharpener more often in the future, and I wanted to make sure I can still get the replacement wheels.

Makita has made this same machine, and the wheels for it, for multiple decades now.The quality today is as good as it was in the 90s when I first got mine.Still made well in Japan. Thank you Makita!

Expensive, I could have bought a whole new grinder cheaper than the cost of the replacement stone but that would have been wasteful. Having said that, the stone works well. it is a water bath stone. I use it for initial rough grinding damaged knife blades to remove chips and corrosion before sharpening. This stone removes material at a very controllable rate.stone wears fairly rapidly. ground approx 20 knives before stone was too thin to be usable.
