Product Description

The Makita 18V X2 LXT Lithium-Ion (36V) Cordless 1" Rotary Hammer (model XRH05Z, tool only) is powered by two 18V LXT batteries, delivering the power and run time for corded demands without leaving the 18V platform. With 3 Joules of Impact Energy and 4,800 BPM, the XRH05Z Rotary Hammer is engineered to meet the demands of corded 1" drilling and hammering concrete applications without having to drag around a cord. The XRH05Z Rotary Hammer delivers up to twice the drilling speed of 18V rotary hammers, with up to three times as many holes drilled. The XRH05Z has a 1" drilling capacity (accepts SDS-PLUS bits) with 0-4,800 BPM, 0-1,200 RPM, and a full 3.0 Joules of impact energy. The XRH05Z has features common to Makita's broad line of rotary hammers including 3-mode operation, one-touch sliding chuck, and a torque limiting clutch engineered to prevent gear damage by automatically disengaging gears if the bit binds.

I love this tool. Works as well as a corded bulldog but no cord to hassle with. I use this daily in high rise construction and it kicks major a$$. Helps me work much quicker and more efficiently.I definitely recommend it to anyone considering it, especially if you already have makita batteries. I have definitely put it through it’s paces and it still works as well as the day I bought it. If it breaks, however, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another.

I'm returning mine because it burned up after drilling only 5 holes in a rock. Amazon is sending a replacement and I hope to be able to report back that this was just a defective item because I've never had an issue with my many other Makita tools.Amazon quickly sent a replacement and I'm happy to say, the drill appears to work fine after drilling some substantial holes in granite boulders. Changed by review from 1 to four stars after replacement.

Works great, light enough to pack and hike, decent battery life. Chews through the tough material, even jade.

1st time reviewer... But long time Amazon Prime Customer. Just felt the need to review this Boss Hog!I'm a geologist, and don't believe there are many people out there that can put a tool like this through a more rigid test than I, and my final conclusion is that this thing is a BEAST!!! Now, I live in KY where layered-cake geology rules the day. So experiences with this tool in a large, metamorphic belt or igneous complex may vary, but here me out. For a test, I used a 1" bit, I drilled 5 holes (6" deep a piece) in about 20 minutes through a trio of large (15-20lbs a piece), solid, crystalline quartz nodules on a pair of 5.0 aH batteries. It's moderately light weight (15lbs w/ bit and batteries)... Light enough to throw into a pack and carry out into the field for a couple of miles. Use this along w/ some wedges -&- shims and a crack hammer, and strategically splitting large sections of rock is quick and easy. Great build, outstanding durability! Every hard-rock geologist should own one!!!

My new favorite tool. I bought this specific rotary hammer based on my need and the reviews and articles I read. Not to mention it shares the same batteries with a my Makita wireless drill. I can say that this unit is very robust and far more powerful than I would have imagined. Very happy with this purchase.
