I operate mine without the battery door. It closes very tight and you really don’t need it.This is a great product!

Installation is a bit of an issue, it's kind of like installing smoke detectors. You have to backward engineer where the mounting holes need to be so the camera is pointed in the right direction when you twist it into place. Other than that, they seem to be a good value. No idea how long a set of batteries will last, they say 3 months. I chose these as a temporary alternative until we figure out which home security system/service we want to go with.

Some of these arrived broken in the inside. I fixed 2, but the other one wasn't repairable. I already pit stickers etc on them, so it was too late to send back. Also be sure to test them out!I hate that the blinking light doesn't shut off.

These look real from a distance, just don’t look too close. My main complaint is not how they look but how you install these things! They are extremely tricky to install on the wall or ceiling. I used them outdoor. You screw two screws in where you want to place your camera, then place the camera on the screws and turn to (kinda) lock it in place. Sounds simple, but it’s frustrating how not simple it actually is.It took me 20+ minutes each camera to get the screws aligned perfect, when my other decoy cameras were 2 minutes and done. (The kind where the base and camera detach and reattach for easy mounting.)Don’t be reeled in by how cheap they are. They’re not worth it. There are hassle-free designs out there, this is not one of them.

These are not like the ones I purchased before. (They look exactly the same but...) The old ones had a motion sensor that made a red light blink then it would go off. These units have a red blinking light that runs all the time, no motion sensor, you can not turn the light off unless you take out the battery. Also these units are not easy to put up, tiny screws have to be just perfect and you basically hang them blind without seeing the mounting holes. The OLD units had a paper template to mark screw holes which is critical to mounting. These units have NO mounting template, so they would be virtually impossible to hang if you had to guess where to put screws. I'm going to make my own template before I go out to hang them and use them without batteries. They say the flashing red light is a give away to a fake camera anyway.
