Paired this with a two-blade receptacle and it is a very useful solution for controlling my son's LED lighting without fiddling with the goofy inline controller. Step switch is on the floor and provides a very satisfying positive "click" when engaging, so you know when you've actuated the switch. I made a mistake and ordered this without an integrated receptacle, but this still ended up working well once I put a solution together with minimal DIY.

Seems like a decent, basic foot switch. The switch is light plastic, but everything is these days. The pedal has a decent feel, not too mushy. The cord I received is shorter than the 5' listed at 4'8", but it is close. After installing into the lamp, the overall length will be around 4' - fine as long as the lamp is relatively close to the plug. It will work for the current situation, but limits placement of the lamp. Next time I will look for a longer cord.
