We've only been doing maple syrup for a couple of years, and in very small quantities. We've really been playing it by ear and guessing at sugar content and consistency. While it's just a hobby for us, it will be interesting to take our syrup to the next level, and this hydrometer is just the right low cost, easy to use tool that will do that for us. Now that I've learned a little about the Brix scale, which this tool measures, I'm looking forward to this year's batch and to hopefully getting better results than we have in past years. I like the handle on the container which will make it much easier to use with hot syrup, and the cleaning brushes are definitely going to come in handy. Looking forward to our best syrup yet!

this is a smaller kit, but great for smaller batches. I have not been able to test for accuracy yet because it's winter, but I like everything about this little kit. nice quality in everything you get.

Received it and was was smashed right off. Pieces of glass inside the tube case it comes with. Would like a new one hopefully not broken.
