These are little, VERY quiet, wooden maracas.Nicely made, smooth and safe, they are barely audible during normal, polite conversation.I'm a grown man, and I shook them as hard as I could, and the sound that emerged was a soft, shaking "sshhh''sshhh."I suppose they're great, if you want to let your infant or toddler vent some energy, but they are extremely subdued, in terms of volume......far quieter than the usual plastic baby rattle.
