I was skeptical about the ability to fill holes and stop leaks but this worked perfectly. The real trick it to mix in small amounts and take you time filling the holes. This stuff dries as hard a steel like its been said so the best way to apply is with a plastic putty knife. You don't want to put it on thick either unless you have a deep hole to fill. Once you have the patching done, put on a new smooth glove and wet your finger with either saliva or warm water and used it to smooth out the putty. This will save you hours sanding, if you need to sand at all. I was able to fix several weak spots and holes. smoothed them out and don't have to sand at all. Sanding is for cosmetic reasons only. If you are going to sand for looks or bottom painting, you need to wash with soapy warm water and a scouring pad to get the amine blush (slick oily film) off the surface so that paint will adhere. Gel-Coat doesn't play well with epoxy resins so extra sanding is needed if you are going to put that on. Good luck!

My application is a hull of a 2002 seadoo gtx 4tec. Applied last night at 7pm. Seems like it was already dried this morning but I pulled off the mixing stick from the mixing board and some was still wet.Might have to apply direct heat to the hull for awhile so it warms up inside out also. The surface was rock hard. Will be fun trying to sand this stuff - not.If I only have to do it once I will be happy. Will be installing a keelguard after the repair.4 out of 5 stars just because of the unknowns yet. Seems to be drying good.It was easy to apply in my eyes. It was easier than spreading JB weld.I made sure I wiped the surface down about 6 times with cleaner before apply and roughed up with 120 grit. Will report back if I have any problems.UPDATE - 4/13Not 100% sure how to edit the original reviews so I will just put it here. The putty turned out very very hard. Very tough to sand.Expect to use 36 or 80 grit to knock down high spots. I spent over and hour or two with 80 grit just trying to get the correct shape of my hull.Turned out pretty good I would have to say. I have only sanded it to 120 grit so far because I had to take the jetski out and make sure it was going to run good before anymore time was put into it.I used several layers of masking tape on the good surface to make sure I didn't go into the good gelcoat. As soon as the tape started to get roughed up it was time to stop and feel for the step difference.Very surprised how hard this stuff got. I used a couple old measuring cups to make sure I got the correct amount when mixing.Mixed for a full 4 minutes. I made sure the heat in the shop stayed at 74 degrees for the full 24 hours. It does dry very slow.Hit some pretty hard waves on saturday and it's still there - so far so good.

Like the self proclaimed genius I am, I ran a screw directly through the bottom of my fiberglass boat when installing a new bilge pump - ironically even thinking to myself "Surely this screw won't go through the hull....." Well, it did. So, after a little research every site mentioned marine tex as the best bet to fixing things like this. They were right. Upon mixing a small amount of the epoxy and resin (Which is kind of hard to gauge how much to mix if you only need a tiny amount) I sanded down the area where the hole was. I applied a layer of about 1/8", and smoothed out with my finger. After letting harden with a heat lamp, I sanded down and it looks perfect. This stuff isn't like a patch, it bonds so well it basically becomes part of the material it's bonding to. Also fixed a few other gouges in my hull, and looks great.Usually patches scare me, because it always seems like they could rip off at any minute. Not this. Once this hardens, it isn't going anywhere - and that the confidence I need when I'm 2 miles out on a lake. Chewing gum just won't cut it.Perfect product for repairs for fiberglass boats.PS - Don't screw through the hull of your boat :)PSS Make sure your drain plug is in too - Been there, done that.

I'm so glad to have discovered this epoxy. It's a bit difficult to mix in small batches due to the consistency and stickiness of the thicker part. But it is worth the hassle. My first fix was the food processor handle. I have attempted to re-attach the handle twice--once with 5-min epoxy and the other time with plastic bonding epoxy. Neither worked. After re-attaching the handle with Marine Tex, it's attached permanently, and I can even lift the heavy processor up by the handle with no worries! I also repaired some smashed plastic on the rear of the pop-up camper (I accidentally backed it into a tree at night and busted up the rear panel that holds the lights). It worked perfectly. It even fixed some big cracks with missing plastic that were about 1/4-inch wide. The repair is stronger than the original plastic. The only downside is that it takes a day to set (unless you put a heat lamp on it), so you need to plan your repair and hold the pieces in the way you want them to set up.I tried a test on ABS plastic, and it worked very well. So I will next use it to repair some growing cracks on the pop-up's ABS roof. I will drill-stop them, and then fill them with Marine Tex. I expect it will work perfectly.

I've had to use this twice this year. I hit a log two different times this year, breaking off the front tracking fin on our '01 Malibu each time. This stuff is easy to use and dries rock hard. It sands well but is a good idea to get it as flat as possible before sanding. Due to the location and most of the repair being covered by the tracking fin, I haven't taken the effort to polishing this up to a shine like I've read you can do. I have read that you should avoid using this if you intend to gel coat over top of it, as gel doesn't stick well to it.Great product that I'm sure I'll be stuck using again next year.
