This bat is forgiving and the ball jumps off it just as well, if not better than bats 3, 4 times expensive. My son started with a -10 and after offering him more expensive bats, he chose to go with the -5 in the same model.

Happiest he can ever be with it. Won’t need another one anytime soon but either way this bat is built to last. Awesome weight and the sound that it makes when you hit the ball. Amazing!!!!

This year, for extra practice, we signed up for a machine pitch 13u fall league and they required a 1.15 stamp on all bats used. Not wanting to spend a ton for a bat that might only be for this league, I gave the little one a budget and a few suggestions for researching bats. Kiddo likes a heavier, end-weighted swinging, wooden or one-piece bat, so impressions are based on those preferences. The choice was this F5 bat. We ordered the 32" drop 5 and it came in weighing exactly 27 ounces. Take note that, even though the listing states this is a 2-3/4" bat, I asked and can confirm that the drop 5 version is 2-5/8", which is what we were looking for. First swings were positive. This is subjective, but we felt the bat swings like it is weighted mid-barrel. Being a one-piece bat, no break-in time was needed, but it "rings" a bit compared to a composite. That said, kiddo reports no meaningful stinging or vibration, even on mis-hits (although that would likely increase for a kid who holds lightly or doesn't swing through). Hits are fantastic, but this is not a bat that does the work for you; you get what you put into it, so swinging through makes a big difference. During practices against a pitcher balls were moving! And, they flat-out fly when off the machine! Looks promising that our new "fall ball bat" might be a favorite year 'round.

Needed an alloy bat to use for the cold season and this was an excellent option and value for what we needed.

I get it—your 10U kid watches Bat Bros and thinks he needs the Hype Fire to hit bombs. Meanwhile, you’re looking at the price and wondering, What are we really paying for? Let me save you some trouble: skip the hype and go for the MARUCCI F5 BBCOR. Here’s why.The Hype Fire (HF) you see in all the videos is not the same bat your 10U or 12U player will be swinging. Even though the price is the same, the performance isn’t. The only "hot" versions of the HF are the -5 or -3. Want proof? Look at this year’s Little League World Series and check how many home runs were hit when they were handing out HF bats. The numbers were noticeably lower. The F5, on the other hand, is not far off from the top bats in its category, and you’ll save about $200. It’s a fantastic bat—durable, well-balanced, high quality, and yes, your kid will still be able to hit bombs. The exit velocity might be just 3 MPH lower than the top bats, but even Rapsodo reports a margin of error of +/- 2 MPH. No one will notice a difference of 2-3 MPH on a hit ball.Save your money for all the other gear players need nowadays: sliding mitts, ankle guards, beaded necklaces, Sutro sunglasses, and so on.If your kid needs a BBCOR bat for a quick season, pick this one up. The hardest part will be convincing them that even though it’s not the "cool" bat, it’s definitely the smarter choice.
