I thought this was a bit pricier than other mason lines; however, once I received and used it I think the pricing is competitive for what you get. First, it is very easy to see - very bright, and the color doesn't appear to wear or come off easily. After a week in the Florida weather it is still bright. Second, this line is not the usual twisted three strand type, but is a braided line using eight strands. It is strong, resists twisting, and doesn't unravel as easily. The holders they include seem pretty lightweight; however, they work well and are stronger than they look. Overall, this is a good line set if you put in masonry, walls, fences, etc and like to stretch it very tight over longer distances.

This Mason line string gets the job done for me and I like the spool dispenser. The spool really makes it easy to handle unwinding and winding the string. The spool would also do a great job to use with a kite. Without a spool like this, I typically have problems with the string falling off the roll on the edges prematurely and getting knotted-up, preventing me from being able to effectively use all of the line. The string is nicely constructed, with clean and strong strands. Made up of 8 strands, the string is especially durable and easy to work with. The color is bright, and it holds up well and does not come off. I haven’t had any problems with it staining anything it comes in contact with, and it is certainly easy to see. Plus, it is waterproof, so that really helps it last out on the job. This is a good set, and I recommend it highly.

You get a lot of strong, highly visible line with this set, although I did think the price was a little high. It seems you're really paying for the fluorescent color. The spool holder doesn't seem especially high quality, but it works fine.
