If you press the igniter button on your UT-100 soldering iron and you don't hear a sound like a whistling-whine when it lights, your soldering tip needs to be replaced, because it means the heat chamber is no longer working right. Now, I just hit the button, the whine ramps up, the ceramic glows orange, then it starts melting solder within about 10 seconds. Worth it to me...
