Bought this hard drive to replace the original one on my ps4 slim console that kept giving me issues. Swapped this new one in and followed the instructions provided and good as new! This is a must buy. Great packaging and shipping too!

I purchased this to replace a corrupted hard drive in a customers PS4 Slim. To my surprise, the hard drive was already formatted out of the box and it was as simple as plugging it in and installing the PlayStation files with a USB drive. I do have one but if advice which was mentioned a couple times by other people so I want to confirm - DO NOT unplug or shut off your PlayStation improperly. You absolutely must shut down the PlayStation the correct way every time. If you were to unplug the PlayStation without pressing “power down” first, the PlayStation will have to manually search for the new hard drive the next time you turn it on, and after improperly shutting down your console enough times, this generic hard drive will fail and you’ll be ordering a new one. If you can follow this simple rule then by all means this is a great deal.

Absolute steal. Works for ps4 pro as well.My HDD recently went out to where I couldn’t even play online anymore without being extremely frustrated, even accessing ps setting would take a minute.With this new drive my ps4 pro is back to lightening fast :)Will come back in a year and let you knew where I’m at.

I purchased the drive to replace my original 500GB that became corrupted and unusable. I have an original model PS4 (the bulky fat one) and it was extremely easy to install. I uploaded the software and the console was back in action in less than an hour. For the price, it's a good buy. It's as close as you can get to a Seagate or Western Digital brand drive for the price and functions nearly identical.

Purchased this drive to replace the original drive in my PS4 gen 1 that finally died after years of service. Liked the idea of doubling my storage and speeding up PS4. Installation was easy, reinstalled software and games, everything seemed good to go. 2 months in something ain't right. Having serious load time issues for games specifically online multiplayer. Taking way to long to the point where some games are almost unplayable. Ghost Recon Breakpoint has serious map loading issues, cut scene lag, and forget co-op I just hold people back. Thought maybe that's a robust game that PS4 can't handle well so reinstalled BF4 and the load times for multiplayer are ridiculous, never taken that long, over 5 minutes. And yes I have a robust internet connection. You'll have a hard time convincing me it's not the new hard drive because the only thing that has changed. Disappointed as Amazon Choice recommended and claims of speeding up PS4....it slowed it down. Disappointed. Your results may vary from mine.UPDATE: Finally had enough. Jan 2021 I purchased a SAMSUNG 870 QVO SATA III 2.5" SSD 1TB (MZ-77Q1T0B). Installed this solid state drive and the old PS4 runs like a champ, faster than the original by far. The above drive definitely was the problem. Cannot recommend.

My PS4 Slim started performing terribly just outside of its warranty. It was lagging in games, scrolling between apps on the home screen slowly, and eventually became completely unable to operate at all. I ordered this on the off chance it would fix my problem and it did! It took only a couple of screws from a standard Phillips head screwdriver and it pops right in, a monkey could do it. The included software installation instructions were super clear and I was up and running again in about 15-20 minutes from the time I opened it up. My PS4 now runs even faster and smoother than it did when it was brand new which I wasn’t expecting. I’d definitely recommend purchasing this and I’m a very satisfied customer.

Wife was getting annoyed with running out of space and this seemed like a good deal. Only took about 5 min to power down PS4 and remove old HDD and have this one installed in its place. It came with pretty decent instructions. Just back up your game save data to the PSN cloud and follow the directions to put this in and you will have plenty of space. I think she has about 14 games installed right now and has some space left over. You don't really need that many games installed i suppose but now she doesn't have to delete and re install one depending on her mood of game. Great HDD and there seems to be no issues.
