In 2007 the Veterans Affairs Secretary released a press release, titled Veterans Pride Initiative, calling on veterans to begin wearing military medals and ribbons on patriotic holidays and days of remembrance, such as the 4th of July, Veterans and Memorial Day. It was a call to action for veterans to express their pride, remember their service, and to value their medals and ribbons as accomplishments, memories, and sacrifices.

This was to add to my grandfathers small medal shadow box. I gifted the box to my mother last Christmas and she cried. First time putting the medals in shadow box to hang up for display.

I got this to make a shadow box for my father, as his are from WW2 and falling apart. this looks very good, is well made and heavy. a great substitute.
