These are beautifully made maracas that are incredibly clear-sounding. As the description says, these are better suited for professional uses - if you use them in a jam session at a live music venue, you will not be disappointed. For home use though, they are a bit too top-notch. I really wish I had an occasion to play these in a proper musical setting so that they can really shine for what they are built for! Such a well-made pair of instruments.

These are great quality maracas. However, be careful when you use them. A tiny shake goes a long way. They. can. be. LOUD! Lol but the whole idea is to get the sound out. I've been working with middle school singers for years and we've done different things in concert. Last concert, we used these for a fun piece. Just had to have the kids tap the maracas gently into a hand instead of shaking outright. It worked and didn't power the small singing group (~8 students). So yes they can be noisy, but when carefully used can have a great sound range. I definitely feel that I got a good-quality product.

These are really good. I bought them for my kids and they throw them on the floor and all over the place. They are only 4 and 5 years old. They haven’t broken and after all the abuse, they still look brand new. One thing to keep in mind is that they are really loud and probably not so great for kids as the level of noise could be bothersome at times. Better for adults who play more professionally.

Estas maracas suenan bien y estan bien construidas, no parece que se rompan facilmente. Son ligeras y manejables, bastante grandes con lo que tienen bastante volumen. Las compré en una oferta y mereció completamente la pena.

I purchased these for my girlfriend so she could participate in our band on a limited basis when percussion called for maracas. I am a drummer, but have little hand percussion experience, so we both have been using an instructional video called Playing Maracas: Learn the Rhythms! by Dance Papi on Youtube. Based on that video and hand's on learning I can say that using proper technique these maracas are not overly loud. In fact, they can cover a fairly wide dynamic range, from light to very loud. While these are semi pro quality, I did check out some characteristics based on the aforementioned video. Apparently pro quality maracas have a higher and lower pitch in each maraca from a pair. I have fairly good ears and each maraca in this pair has the same pitch, so I am guessing that they are mass produced with little or no variation. If you are an experienced player who is looking for pro level maracas these may not be for you.Overall construction is excellent, although I would be concerned about the plastic 'gourd' cracking if dropped on a hard surface. The handles are comfortable, and lend themselves to holding the maracas properly (per the video I mentioned.) Overall length is about 10 3/8 inches, of which 4 7/8 inches are the wood handles. The 'gourd' diameter at the widest point is about 4 inches in diameter. For actual performances for semi-pro or amateur musicians this pair will work well in my opinion. I will close by saying that learning to play these both authentically and competently is not a trivial task.

Having played many different Maracas over the years these Meinl PM2BG Sessions are one of the best for clear, accurate playing. They are loud enough to cut through most other instruments sufficiently and have an excellent, authentic sound. For this sort of price you are getting a lot of bang (or, in this case, shake) for your buck.

These maracas are really well made, and they are really loud when you get them going. You can play them quietly though. Would certainly recommend them. They have quite a 'chick' noise to them, sharper, not particularly a soft sound.
