These plates are solid for small projects, they will absolutely hold two pieces of material together. I have a wooden ceiling joist in my garage that had split apart and these plates do a fantastic job of holding the pieces together, though I needed to screw on several plates for this job. Much cleaner than using a second piece of wood to secure them together. The various sizes are also nice because I only need certain pieces now and then for various projects. The screws are shorter than what I needed them for so I used longer screws that I had, but nevertheless I'm appreciative of the included screws.

There is always a need for brackets or braces. It is good to have a supply of various sizes and shapes on hand when needed. In this case, there are 28 pieces for only $9.99. That is a bargain in my book. I particularly like that they are painted black and smooth on the edges. Good product. Good price.
