Direct replacement for my 1999 Playcraft pontoon. Just remove 3 wires from old and plug back into the new switch. Easy.

I took a sharp paring knife and tapped around the PRT cover and it comes off great. I bought a new one BTW. I then pulled the switch out and attached the wires just like they came off. I stuffed those all back into the handle and put the new PRT on there with 5-minute marine epoxy. used small duty clamps to hold. Be sure it is operating the trim up and down and the PRT isn't rubbing on switch. before the epoxy step. I slipped some thin plastic under the switch to firm up the hold on it. There was a 1X1.25 inch insert above the switch, and we pulled that out to stuff wires better. Wish someone had written this before me. All I read was you have to cut the PRT cover off and that was an anxious moment, but he was right! It's in and looks great!

Old wires matched right up. Connections did not have a be changed. Original lasted almost 20 years in saltwater conditions.

I had to slightly enlarge the throttle shifter switch hole on my 1985 Mercury 50HP outboard, but after that it went in no problem and works perfectly. A little time and patience and all was good.Highly recommended!
