False Advertising. Cheap and inconsistent type of plastic packaging (sandwich baggy). Labeleled with sticky applied to plastic bag. Not the Mercury / Quicksilver printed thick mil packaging with printed OEM label and part number details. Item looked like it was cut/sheared with dull scissors. Material likely not the same and may impact flow rate. Return accepted. Heading to Merc authorizes dealer.

When I first heard the hissing noise I thought it was a massive vacuum leak, which technically it was. I found a YouTube where the guy outlined what was going on. I couldn’t believe how loud the sucking sound was and that it was coming from the idle air control valve. I am not sure where the Muffler/Filter went, but I I think I am going to talk off the IAC control valve to see if it is stuck inside of it. The bottom line is that the second I put the little muffler in the sound was back to normal. The part that I received was sealed and do have two mufflers in it. High scores on all facets of the purchase and delivery.

If you've got a 496 8.1L engine with a whistling sound at idle, this is the fix. Worked perfectly.

486 mag HO IAC muffler or tiny little filter for idle speed control path. located above the throttle blade. this gets dirty or damaged real easy. This is fine quality & sent fast. less time than it would take to argue with your boat parts person
